How does Cane Creek Cycling Components know the new DBInline can handle the rough stuff?
Because before we went public with it, Cane Creek employees Brandon Blakely and Evan Voss put the newest Double Barrel shock to the test. Watch as these two shred some sick, sick North Carolina trails. (If you're nice to us, maybe we'll take you on them when you visit.)
It's basically how we do product development: ride it, rip it, make it.
N.C. does have great trails....but keep in mind. Winter sucks there. I grew up there and moved out to Cali just so I could ride year round in good weather.
25 years for me. Once you ride year round in dry Cali you'll understand. There is NO comparison. Although Catawba River used to be awesome back in the day!
There's a few WC DH guys that moved to NC recently in order to ride gnarly trails year around. I'm working my hardest to move there too for year around good riding.
Okkaaaayyyy guys remember theres a lot of canadians kicking around on this site so you all better stop complaining about your "winters" while youre ahead
@bikebike69 I'd love to get out to a place that I could ride year-round, for sure. Enjoy the warm weather on our behalf! haha and @jaycubzz, touché, I'm not saying New York is colder than Canada, but it does get pretty damn cold here, especially in comparison to places like North Carolina.
Its also no surprise that some of the colleges in the Pisgah area have strong mt bike teams. Lees-Mcrae, Brevard, Warren Wilson, App State. Actually at collegiate nationals every year, I remember a lot of CO and NC schools on the podium, but not much from CA...
@hardtailhucker03 Not sure if there were more trails that I missed, but everything I saw looked like Wilson's Creek/Pisgah trails. Everything is accessible from highway 181 north of Morganton. I know I saw Sinkhole and looked like the top section of Greentown. Get a Wilson's Creek trail map and get out there. Some of the best trails in the US.
Now that all these sweet racer rich kids are moving here, our trails will be even more blown out when they have to train in the rain, they don't show up for trail work days, and really just suck all around.
I lived in N.C....Fayettenam (Fayetteville to be exact). But unfortunately I ending up jumping outta a perfectly flying airplane with the mighty 82nd Airborne Division rather than jumping my bike. I can tell ya its not as fun but way more intense! "All the Way!"
NC is great riding. Some real nuggets around here. I did the Uwharrie (near the Badin Lake area) round of the Southern Super D series yesterday and H0ly 5h1t was that place fun!
That bike looks so fun. I was torn between one of those and a Tallboy LTc when I was getting my bike. The one thing I was wondering about though was his choice of such a small diameter rear rotor. Seems strange to me. I find myself wanting a slightly larger rotor than I have in the back on my 29er because it seems less effective than the same size on a 26". Thoughts?
the ripley…well…simply rips. i've got a buddy shredding one on our DH team, and he cleans all kinds of gnar aboard that thing; boulder fields, trailside senders…all of it. and don't even get me started on how it climbs
@Gooldylocks I opted for a smaller rotor in the rear as it helps me with locking up the rear wheel... I simply dont do lock it up as much with the smaller rotor so I stay on the trail better...Guess I have lead for hands...and no real technique? haha
cecald, that is what I am thinking I am going to switch to. I'm currently running 180/160. I get what you're saying though TKETTLE. Different style, different equipment.
Wilsons is terrible... the climbs are too long and the trails are no fun once you do eventually reach the top. Best to just keep on saving for your Whistler trip... Nothing to see here folks, move along...
Wilson's baby!!! I know every inch of that trail, they just happened to use them a bit better than me.
I hear if you ponder down that hole you will find gold, beer, and a endless supply of chamois butter
@BDKR - wilsons is a trail system around the asheville area. go up to the bike shops in that area and im sure they can help direct you. I also live in Raleigh, and have ridden and shuttled DH there many times.
Hell yeah, looks like Brandon Blakely to me, I've ridden with him, well watched him ride away from me, haha! Dude rips! That was a sick edit and that tree kicker was hella rad too!!
I know NC has some good riding as I did some races with my school in NC. But now I live on Ft. Bragg, and this area of NC seems to have 0 good riding. Maybe someone can give me an idea of where to ride within an hour of Ft. Bragg. Also why hasn't pinkbike done any coverage on Daniel Dhers Action Sports Complex?
Since Cane Creek is located south of Asheville ... I'm guessing areas of Bent Creek or Dupont. Especially with the abundance of Laurel tree tunnels. The trail seems a bit tame for Wilson's Creek ... at least where I've ridden.
Dang, when I lived in Swannanoa, NC (1984-5) only saw one mtb... A chrome Ross from Bike Nashbar mail-order. Guy rode it everywhere, rode trials and trails. Got me hooked despite the fact that I spent all my waking hours then going to classes and paddling open boats or tearing up the mountain roads on my RD 350. Forget the guys name, but the seed got planted for me there, bought my first mtb 85 and have been riding ever since.
Awesome Job!!!
I've heard legend of the industry boys up there...(ie Canecreek/ I9/ Suspension Experts) having some private ninja trails that are insane...
and BTW, I love western NC riding...some of the best in the east
and for anyone in NC...you must hit up Boone, NC's multi-million dollar mtb park, Rocky Knob!...giant mtb playground
Go home, You're drunk.

Amazing edit & riding though!
all over this video, good to see.
