amen. the more experience i have the bigger i go, but the less i try to go as fast as i can. i find i take the flow and speed that the trail naturally offers me more often since injuries take longer to heal. sending something new and bigger is always prefaced by the thought, "is this a 'next step' that I've prepared myself for so that the chances of success are high?" because eating it can mean time off the bike. cabin fever with no bike is no fun. riding is my sanity. I have much less of a problem now putting off the stoke of dropping something huge for me, in exchange for being whole, capable of riding tomorrow, and prepared for the day when I am ready to hit it. plus i'm always stoked after a ride regardless.

@ranke: well said. At some point we all get to a place where we begin the process of removing things from our ‘resumes’ to improve the long term sustainability of our ‘ride’.

Did you read the article? " Giving a group of talented creatives an identical brief with a limited timescale to complete their final piece." I'm guessing that they weren't able to find 3 generations of women who ride in the limited timescale. As awesome as I'm sure that would be.

I'm with @cxfahrer. Call me a "man hater" if you like (but my name is Joey and it has been for a long time now), but I'm tired of men doing the riding. @Vudu74 If you say it's not feasible to find three generations of women, but that would be awesome, obviously providing more all male content doesn't help to create this "awesome" situation you speak of. I apologize for throwing shade at this video and your comment specifically, I see all male content every time I get on pinkbike and this is no different. I just don't see a need to shut down someone who notices all male content.

Otherwise a nice video. I never thought I'd enjoy a slide show so much.

@Coldspringer: I don't take at as shade. I just meant that maybe the constraints of the "limited timescale" of the project made it hard for the person who made this edit to get all the pieces in order. This is also the first of the "One More Brew" format. Maybe the next one will be made by women and be featured here as well. I am all for getting more female content and riders on any format that shows how awesome they are. But, the fact of the matter is that currently, mountain biking is still a male dominated sport. With that being said there has been a (negligible) swing in that pendulum. I have a 4 yr old daughter and I would be stoked for her to have strong female influences to look up to, be them on the bike, behind the camera making these types of edits, in ballet, or the boardroom. Whatever she chooses to do.

@Vudu74 @Coldspringer : Hey, just to say thanks for the positive feedback! Obviously the male/female thing did cross my mind, unfortunately I don't know any more 'experienced' ladies to shoot. That and the fact this was a bit of a study and mixing the sexes would have added a different variable and might have altered the combined effect of the responses. One the One More Brew night itself there was a solid mix of both sexes in the audience, creating content and riding bikes!

Another question that could be asked is; Why aren't there more equally talented female videographers out there putting together edits showcasing female riders? I'm confident Pinkbike would find such content equally deserving of a place on the home page.

I figure, growing the female riding community requires that we all think about what we do, consider the impact on our priorities (maybe by sharing some thoughts like we just did), and make growing the female riding community one of our priorities.

female riders - you might remember think it was last year one of the top female DH riders did a video where her and her mother went for a ride around a scottish lake - Hannah Barnes adventures with mum.
