Gotta say I'm kinda bummed, after watching PB Academy and really looking forward to seeing Flo compete in EWS, the Flo's time with Orbea kicks off with an EWS-E race with only 6 competitors. I really hope it's just the first step toward something bigger.

Yeah this must sting for the other pink bike academy people. Kinda feels like it took the chance away from someone who wants to race a bike

@jake00dd: First race only but having your winner end up 4th in a field of 6 (of the lower-level E series) is not a great look.

Pretty sure she is racing the regular EWS as well and was using this as training. Could be wrong though.

@salespunk: She doesn't appear to be on the startlist for the regular EWS: www.enduroworldseries.com/race/ews-round-1/ews-tweed-valley/202186

Plot twist next season of PB academy is on ebikes. Who can eat a burrito fastest while "climbing" to the top of a stage

6 women and 30 men is a joke! Quit this series now. Give the sponsor money to up and coming non-e-athletes, or to programms to get kids on pedal bikes and stop wasting it for elderly men and their luxurios hobbies! Oh, and I'm an ebike rider.

En montagne, c'est super. L'E-Bike permet de faire de très gros dénivelé, sans prendre les remontées mécaniques.
Au final, c'est beaucoup plus fatigant, que de monter en télésiège !!!! Et le pilote reste à température Smile

I'm not a 100% lover of e-bikes but, great performance of our Italians Garibbo and Marcellini!

Results can fit on one page :/
Money should be spent on Grassroots riders instead IMO.

Good start to the season for Orbea! Nice work, Flo!

Satire? Flo was 4th out of 6 with a time closer to last place finisher than to the winner. Not a great start.

@mi-bike: 2 minutes of the front was a 18th place in the male category. I'd say not bad at all for the first time racing elite in europe.

Are there power/output rules for EWS-E ebikes?
  • 1 0
Yes they all have to be Cat 1 (forget the proper terminology) eBikes limited to 18.x mph
  • 1 0
@salespunk: Forgive my ignorance, but if it's just a speed restriction, what's to stop an ebike company from pushing maximum torque output for climbs and then capping the speed?
  • 2 0
@jayacheess: battery consumption would be the issue then
  • 1 0
@irishkiwimadman: Is there a maximum battery capacity per battery?
  • 1 2
I'm in the US and my Shimano e-bike only gets to 18.6 MPH before the power cuts out. I know the specialized and Bosch motors go all the way to 20. I think class one in Europe might have a lower max speed but from my experience there's no way someone on a Shimano motor could compete and get second in mens.
  • 3 0
European regs restrict ebike assist to 15.5mph
  • 2 0
@deli-hustler: Funny how good you get at going 15 MPH all the time?
  • 2 0
Specialized and Bosch motors are limited to the same speed as Shimano. They do not go to 20 mph since they would have to be recategorized by both EU and US regulators.
  • 2 0
Hmm, no US riders. So what happens when the EWS comes to the US, do all the Euros get a reprogram?
  • 2 0
Dang I thought KW would have done better. It’s quite competitive even with a small field

Gotta say, I am bummed that she isn't doing th regular ews but the move by Orbea may be genius. How many of us clicked on the link to see how Flo did?
