The American Thanksgiving tradition began in Plymouth, Massachusetts; to celebrate this holiday check out the video from last year's Share the Ride in nearby Boston, Massachusetts.

Today in the United States it's Thanksgiving. Although this tradition began with the Pilgrims giving thanks after their first successful crop was harvested with the help of the local Native Americans, the essence of the celebration now lays in being thankful for the people and things that enrich our lives. As mountain bikers, we have much to be thankful for. We participate in a sport that we love and that provides us with a world wide community of like minded people. We experience the joys of the great outdoors and the adventures that come from immersing ourselves in the mountains. We travel, we make friends and we live for the moment.

Our goal at Share the Ride is to provide an opportunity for disadvantaged children and youth to experience those joys by giving them their own, brand new bicycle. Please help us by making a donation so we can make that happen again, again and again.

Donating comes with many rewards, a sense of satisfaction plus the chance to win these amazing prizes.

Here's what you could win:

Giant Reign 27.5 1
Grand Prize: A Giant Reign 1 27.5

Valued at $5,299 CAD the Giant Reign 1 27.5 shines when the trail gets rough. It’s strong enough to tame aggressive terrain and efficient enough to conquer climbs with ease. Stable geometry, a tapered OverDrive steerer tube design and air or oil shock-compatible shock mounts make Reign 27.5 the choice for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing.

How it works
-For every $5 donated between Nov 4th, 2014 and Midnight of December 12th, you will earn one chance to win the Giant Reign 1 27.5 bike and other listed prizes. So if you donate $25 that is 5 chances at a bunch of prizes.
-The winners will be selected from a spreadsheet using random selection.
-The winners will be notified by e-mail and asked a mountain bike related knowledge question.
-We will ship worldwide ... Customs fees and other applicable taxes will be the winner's responsibilities.

Where will your money go?
- $150 is enough to buy one child a new bike and a helmet.
- We are working with community centers, schools, youth and family service programs and other established charities and foundations to identify children from low income families who will benefit from this gift.
- We are world wide.
- We aim to ensure that the children receiving these gifts are educated on basic bicycle safety and maintenance.

great cause here. glad it landed in my city. wish it could everywhere. Happy Thanksgiving from Boston, and for those who do not celebrate, happy day to you as well. My same sentiments apply. Meaning, it’s great just taking time to reflect on what is important and be thankful for it and help others that are not as fortunate. the only shame IMO is that we do not do it enough.
