In true Scottish fashion, the weather up here in Fort William is holding riders and fans to ransom. Blue Shimano pac-a-macs are as common a sight as puddles at the moment as the rain lashes down on the event site.
The riders might not have the weather this weekend but come on this is the worlds elite! They should be able to perform in all weather. I quite like that its bad weather, it may open up opportunities for riders outside the top 10 to possibly podium.
They CAN and would, but the risk of injury increases heavily. I'd rather have the UCI pause the games than see a favourite rider down and possibly out for the season. DH is dangerous enough on its own.
show me the data. it would seem, and i could be wrong, that helmet manufacturers and safety rating organizations state no objects attached to helmets that are greater than 7mm tall because they don't test objects greater. the gopro might just breakaway in the event of a crash. then again you might be just joking in which case i'll shut up.
Tough call. Gwin looks unstoppable once again, but there's last year's winner (Brosnan) and some VERY hungry riders in Minnaar and Stevie Smith. Then there's the whole of the UK riders in the field. And let's not forget Bruni, Fearon and some of the "looking for that 1st WC win" riders.
Hope it goes off smoothly and all the riders walk away after the dust...er, mud clears.
I think they pick tires like the shorty.
A mud tire but can be well ridden on rocky ground. And more of an alround tire as the swampthing.
I ride the Shorty for pretty much everything
Classic Fort Bill throwing a wrench in everbodys spokes. I think this race will favor the physically fit having to make two runs flat out. And it will be get on the fast line and hold on for dear life! Track is beat up.
I sure would like to see some different camera angles this year. This short video proves there is so much more to this course than what we have seen every year!
Wow, a 3 minute video and the only girl that was filmed is Manon, and by filmed I mean there's a frame with her in it and her name. Shame on you Red Bull!
You didn't see a lot of juniors either - that's because women and juniors and some lower ranked elites are in B practice that runs earlier in the day before the A practice - not a lot of media get on the hill for it.
statistically, mens elite brings the most viewers and audience ---> brings more marketing attention --> more $. its a shame that more women dont watch world cups and change that viewing statistic
Watching Manon in Claudios preview was great exposure for women. It made me realize how few runs I've seen with women riding and how awesome the women ride.
Really? More of this feminism shit? The cold hard fact is female riding is not exciting to watch in conjunction with male pros. The media doesn't show up for a reason.
Great to encourage female athletes but stop the repetitive comments.
If it works for supercross/motocross (Ama/FIM)...
Hope it goes off smoothly and all the riders walk away after the dust...er, mud clears.
in the grand scheme of thigs the woods are a tiny bit of the track just ease off and make your lines there, make it up everywhere else!
