Video: Zak Mousseau Gets Wildly Creative in the Kootenays in 'Jib Pirate'

Feb 28, 2024
by ForbiddenBike

Landings? Optional. Jibs? Most definitely. Dogs? Check. Wild creativity? You betcha'.

Everyone’s favourite Jib Pirate is back at it with a full part, exploring his home in the east Kootenays through a different lens. For Zak, the ideal riding spot almost doesn’t look like a riding spot at all… until it does, and we love that.

Embrace the weirdness, and ride differently.

The "You can't be doin' that, man" guy is actually wondering how he got his bike up there in the first place.

What happened on the landing? Slip a pedal? Did he hit his shin? Looked nasty either way yet he looked like the most nonchalant pirate.

what sorcery is he using to keep grip in that water shot?

Proper cornering technique, it seems. It is like he is tilting his bike so far that it seems like he needs his outside foot and knee to load the bike so he can take the inside hand off the bars. I don't think I have ever tilted my bike so far that I felt safe to take the inside hand off. But it seems like a fun thing to practice, watch the upcoming Friday Fails to see whether I managed to try Wink .

One of the best edits I've watched in ages - that water shot, the side-saddle landing, Tom Waits and generally great riding. Just yes. Jib ain't dead.

"Embrace the weirdness, and ride differently." I do that but people just say I'm bad at bikes, they just don't get it! (lol no they are right) =)
