Local Vancouver Island racer, Kendall Mclean, navigates his way through the misty rain-soaked forest.
Stevie Smith has played a large part in shaping the Vancouver Island downhill scene. With Mount Prevost offering some of the best downhill riding in Canada it serves as a training ground for talented local riders. Kendall will spend the next year racing UCI World Cups. This is where he plays in the offseason!
How to make a sick edit 2018: Step 1 - have the rider stand without the bicycle. Step 2 - have the rider stand with the bicycle. Step 3 - repeat step 1 and 2 at least 5 times in different locations. Step 4 - make the standing rider and bicycle appear and disappear to convince viewer rider has magical abilities.
I feel like people rarely realize that sometimes filmers and editors make videos because like, you know, they enjoy the process and the art of filming. The funny thing is, that a video like this will much better help further the filmmakers career then a video that isnt as cinematic-ly compelling. And I'm guessing by the level of filming and editing in this video, that the filmmaker is well aware of this.
@cunning-linguist: Tell me about it mate!! Waiting for Dirt/MBUK mag to arrive through the door and watch sprung on repeat to get pumped to go ride some sketchy DH track we had built in the woods after spending almost all day digging, nowadays I'm lucky if I get time for an hour a week on my bike!! Getting older is NOT fun!!
Whats wrong with decent film making? I prefer watching something that was filmed with care, passion, and experimentation. This is a genre of bike videos. Whats the point in commenting that you don't like it because it wasn't an old NWD film. I'm tired of seeing this, especially on Calvin's videos. He works hard, makes really cool sh*t and does it out of pure passion for film making and the sport. I'm down to watch a 240p on kids shredding the absolute gnar AND art videos about mountain biking. Bikes are sick.
Well said, times have changed. So does the technology and the approach to film production. Pans, zooms and metal music still serve their purpose but people shouldn't knock the new wave
just to rub some more salt in the wounds of those that don't live in BC. That video is so last month..as the weather seems to have already turned here on southern Vancouver Island. It hasn't rained here for about a week, with sunny, generally warm temperatures. Trails and riding conditions are about as good as they can get!
A smidge too much cutting back to the panning up to tall trees and over here's a lonely fern. Good edit, but my guess is that kid is a precision racer as opposed to a foot out goon style guy. He didn't ride all "squirrels and chipmunks" all over the place,
Did like the disappear and reappear on the dirt road close to the camera. It made me want another Karver @chriskovarik murder and rampage edit, that's for sure!
I thought it was great! Captured the mood of the winter forest, and for whatever reason I really like the shot of the bike standing alone on the road. Sometimes you need to slow down and look around, and just enjoy the beauty of the forest!
So many whiners... Have you actually made an edit? There is so much work and time in a short edit like that. I think it's nice having videos that showcase the riding AND the editing/filming skills. Don't bitch, it's winter people have limited time to film and ride.
Loved it, the island is so beautiful! great job showing the coastal atmosphere.. moved back to the kootenays from nanaimo before the winter hit and really missing that hero dirt right now! snow should melt soon right?
super skilled rider, too much friggin b-roll. I don't care about the trees and the fog that much, I just want to see a couple more of those huge hucks!
what is up with all these bike videos trying to be a thriller trailer or the next revel co. Just make a fucking bike video with bike riding, sick of this shit.
