CONTOUR has joined forces with one of the bike industry’s most revered riders. Cam Zink, known for his highflying freeride stunts and technical downhill prowess, will utilize CONTOUR’s intuitively designed cameras to capture his adrenaline-fueled descents.

"It's an honor to partner Cam Zink with CONTOUR once again," said Danny Lysenko, CEO of CONTOUR. "He embodies the relentless destruction of the sports boundaries that we seek to capture with our product. His ability to persevere and overcome to create historic spectacles of cycling athleticism so we can watch them again and again is why we exist."

As a 9-year-old outside his Carson City, Nevada school, Cam first began hitting dirt jumps with his older brother. A few years later as a teenager, he turned heads when he won the Junior National Dual Slalom Championship. Since then, he has gone on to win the 2006 and 2010 Crankworx slopestyle competition, the 2010 Red Bull Rampage and the 2010 Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour. While competing at the Red Bull Rampage last fall, he took home the prize for best trick after landing a 78-foot backflip—the largest the sport has ever seen.

Cam Zink

Biking is not all about competitions for Zink, however. As one of the sport’s top freeriders, he spends a large amount of time exploring and filming in some of the world’s most remote terrain.

“Whether filming a first descent or a comp run, I rely on my CONTOUR to capture every detail every time I ride,” said Zink. “The low-profile and secure attachment system of the CONTOUR are unparalleled and I never have to worry about missing the shot because the on switch is foolproof.”

Wtf!? I thought they were out of business!? They're back!?!!?
  • 73 2
You are so late in news my friend.
  • 26 1
Where you been? Well actually I don't blame you for not noticing, they kinda picked a very bad day to announce their return.

It was posted to the homepage April 3rd

I'm kinda impressed you manage to stay off pinkbike for so long.

Yes they are back, and with Fuji bikes "simply better" slogan...

hhahahha i log on to pinkbike daily and haven't seen this guess im as blind as a bat

 Hahahhah

IMHO, they have a better platform than the current action POV giant. It's streamlined, mounts more naturally than the blockhead cam that was patterned after the point and shoot camera. I hope they have a more passionate management now, and eventually keep up with the optic capabilities of the current leader. Competition is always healthy, and the crowd loves the underdog Smile

for the moment it's gopro or nothing
  • 6 4
The Drift HD is actually a really good option if you want to back the underdog...
  • 21 1
Its (contour) spec and image quality don't hold up to GoPro... If form factor is all you care about, then it's cool I guess. But if you're using a camera to get a good image.... why choose the lesser camera?
  • 8 3
I hated my drift, biggest waste of money
  • 4 6
I guess for the enthusiast consumer, "rider", full on HD is irrelevant. If we're PRO level then we'd want that high def resolution, but then sponsors would take care of that. Unless GOPRO would want to record every single epic fail in 1080p?
  • 16 0
 gopro just called, they do
  • 4 1
I'm guessing it wasn't just me that though the quality of some clips there was a bit poor?!
  • 17 1
No chest mount without go-pro. I love chest mount.

 GoPro vs Contour, vote below.
  • 3 1
if only the full HD was the only thing missing... contour shoots at about half the framerate of the GOPRO.... also lowlight mode and everything is better on GOPRO.... have you ever tried to connect a contour camera via bluetooth!!
  • 3 1
yeah im for the gopro also
  • 2 0
dont neg prop me for this but why is there such hate for gopro lovers?
  • 14 1
Maybe they can make a feature that turns the camera on automatically. You know, for when your about to backflip a 60 foot drop and are so hyped in adrenaline you forget to turn the cam on.

Buy the Contour POV camera if you don't plan on turning it on. That's why they signed Zink.

LOL prob signed Zink 'cuz an underperforming company can only afford a past prime, underperforming rider.
  • 26 2
haha whats up with all the zinc haters lets see you flip a drop that big. Zinc has bigger balls than all of you thats why he was able to shred a wallmart bike at rampage.
  • 16 1
I didn't realize he had haters until now! Seriously guys he's a sick rider, better than any of us will ever be! why the hate seriously.

I think Zink is the man. One of the greatest of all time, and he ain't done yet. It's just that he forgot to turn the POV camera on for the biggest stunt in two wheel history. And his signing brings attention to that "missing" POV clip which would have been priceless. Is this not funny? The spokesman does not turn his POV camera on, he just wears it.
  • 17 0
@freeride-forever hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. Wear a helmet kids, prime example of what happens if you bail without one!
  • 4 0
I think when he flipped the drop he was concentrating on other things to even care about a camera! All the side angles and photos were plenty to see how awesome his flip actually was!
  • 4 1
All the side angels to show how awesome the flip actually was, is still no point of view. Lets all face it. It was the greatest missed MTB footage ever. And yea, free-ride forever does seem to not like Zink to the point that I am almost convinced that they know each other personally. I don't know what his deal is all about. But I have asked him about it a couple times with no real response other than the fact that he thinks "Zinkbike" is over rated. I've even made comments like, I hope Zink does a real time chat interview just to see what @free-ride forever has to say to him.
As for the reality of what Zink actually did on last Rampage. I don't blame him for forgetting to turn the camera on. I think RB should have remote control of all the riders POV's. To be honest. I never thought anybody would actually call it and pull it off. Just like he did. With a pregnant wife due to give birth as soon as he hits the tranny. The most insane thing I have ever seen. The biggest balls ever, unhindered during a flip catching Utah air. But ooops, no pov footage.

SithBike: I think you're too used to see a footage of everything. I know, nowadays everyone wants to show cool videos and POVs to his friends. Everyone expects to see big lines catched on Go Pro. In my opinion it ruins the spirit of the sport. At many bikeparks lot of people care just about having good videos, do cool stuff to look well on screen. There is less fun factor. Just riding cos I enjoy that, have fun and care about nothing else. For example I've built 30ft gap (I know, rather small for you Canadians) and have no video from it. I don't care, I like it, friends do either. We have fun on it and that's what this sport should be about.

Please don't take it personaly, that's just my way of sight on our beloved sport. And sorry for my English. Cheers.

riderRB thats a great outlook! You have a good point, very good point! SithBike I feel your pain but in reality the POV of a flip never comes out in great respect. However, I too would have like to have seen it. I think the side angles really give a great perspective. Your idea of RB putting remotes on everyone thats superb, that's what needs to be done then the riders could just rip it up!
  • 3 0
@SithBike, he wasn't wearing a camera when he did the flip...he wasn't signed to Contour at the time, he actually wasn't signed to any camera company.
  • 3 0
Good call bhowl. He was not wearing a camera. My bad. I remember reading somewhere that he forgot to turn it on. He never even had one on. I guess that was to make his point that he needs a sponsor. Thank you Contour for making Zink's next Rampage POV possible.

Lets hope Contour step up their game so we can experience Zink's riding at its best. I actually really want Contour to do well so that there is a competitive market for pov camera because GOPRO and basically untouchable at the moment.
  • 6 1
Still have my original Contour HD and the ROAM2. Both are bloody good. Most people don't go into the settings when linked to the PC and change to 60fps. Nice stable image and I don't look like a Teletubby Smile

I'm super stoked that Contour is back in the game. I saved my pennies for nearly a year to get my +2 and the day it arrived was the same day they announced they were closing up shop. I took mine out of the box & drooled on it for a bit, than packed it back up & returned it. Now I wish I had kept it, it seems like a much smarter design than the GoPro. Both cameras offer plenty enough technology & video quality for the majority of us but you can mount the Contour on more locations on the bike/rider.

Didn't they have Cam prior to going outta business? Contour is pretty awesome, glad they are back!
  • 5 1
 CONGRATS, I love there products.
  • 1 0
This is sick but I personally reckon contour should spend more time getting the angle on his helmet a bit nicer, them making the cam you would think they'd no what the go is with wich part of the helmet to mount on
  • 3 0
Contour chest mount is easy to make with a gopro chestmount and correct mounting hardware
  • 1 0
Nice...but, you don´t think that must be fix the problems in the Connect App?? After more one year I can´t use Contour +2 with my Samsung Galaxy S2. First: fix the problems, then, what you want....

Zinck is smart - take a lesser known brand and make them pay up to use his name to revive it.
  • 3 0
Good news! keep it up Zink
  • 2 0
apparently seems that Cam Zink does not like running out of battery on a helmet cam...
  • 2 0
SICK no hander at 2:05...didn't see that coming

i have gopro+ and a contour roam2 ..... great news wont sale my contour now.
  • 2 0
speaking of Zink, I'm reaaaaally looking forward for a YT edit
  • 1 0
that could've been shot with a vga phone duct taped to his helmet and it still would've been rad cause it's Zink.
  • 2 0
i still use my 1080p with no problems, no need to upgrade unless it breaks
  • 3 5
I'm sorry but Gopro got it right, a little cube that fits anywhere and mounts to anything. I highly doubt you will see a contour chesty mount, bar mount, or any of the other interesting places people put it, the only place you can put a contour is on the helmet.

Oh great : the Contour VS. Gopro is reloaded...
I missed it sooo much... o.O
  • 1 0
The only thing Contour needs to do is figure out how to fit an Ambarella A9 chip into their camera and they've won.
  • 1 0
Man. Some of you guys over think everything. Congrats on the new partnership Cam.
  • 1 0
I thought Zink partnered with pinkbike for 2014 too? Still waiting for his 2 cents
  • 1 0
I really like the Contour form factor and one button operation for some uses but the Gopro is more versatile.

Whats the name of that song?
I want to be able to recognize it, so I never have to hear it again.

Love my +2, bought after the resurrection.
  • 2 1
 Groovy tune.

Wouldn't it be better to mount the cam under the visor?

Was some of that Lake Tahoe area?

Right on! Glad to see Contour locking down some great ambassadors.
  • 4 4
Oh my, image quality is worse than from my Chinese camera... How can they dare to ask more than 100 bucks for that?
  • 1 2
Totally agree!! The main reason they almost went out of business: CRAP quality footage.
  • 1 0
1:06 is that in slowmo???? :O
  • 1 0
Dear Mr. Zink, please get yt stateside asap!
  • 1 0
Is it just me, or does Moto look so much more boring then mtb?

 "this" is not 720p.

 GoPro FTW.
