Picture of the Month is an article showcasing the best Pictures of the Day from the month before. We take the most viewed photos from the previous month, and pick our favorites out of the top 10.

This month's photos are all pretty amazing and I decided to just leave them in the order they were in. I find it hard to put my photos ahead of others in something like this, however my personal fav's would have to be the shot of Hart whipping the beer can and the shot of Anthony way too high up in the air. I like the first shot, but I think it would have been so much better without the crash pad, and the second photo is incredibly spectacular, but I'm not a big fan of the composition.

would it be possible to scale the views with regards to how long each shot has been pod? for instance the shot of danny hart is quite recent whereas the vanyon gap shot has been around for near enough a month
  • 9 0
it is difficult though, as that would lean things towards the most recent pod... since most PODs get the majority of their view in the first day

woooooo go duncy Big Grin there is a mathematician in there somewhere Razz
  • 24 1
number of favorites per view would be a better measure
  • 3 1
or a combination of the above so nobody can screw with the system.

IDK i kinda like the order of them as they sit, my favorite is the beer whip. Insta-classic.

Within a few days of being POD, the numbers trail off enough that they don't affect the end result enough to worry about. If it's a rad shot it'll get viewed a lot on POD day.

or gather up the top five and let us vote for the best ones

 Here's what you do:

Take the view total after 10 days of it being POD.

then take the view count, ex. 10000 and divide it by 10 (the number of days it was up after it became pod) = adv. 1000 views a day

You can do the same with the favorites once you have both this information add the two together (favorite and view count) then divide by 2, this gives the average of both the favorite and view total.

not sure if this makes any sense but if were really into getting all mathy about it i think this would be the best way.

Have fun Brule! get that calculator out!

We're not here for an essay.. ^^

Only to look at the POM's...

But just because its been viewed alot doesnt make it the best shot, just means it stands out most when on a smaller scale
  • 1 0
I totally agree with Rasterman POM should be chosen by favs over views.

super sweet photos. Like the monthly roundups. Would also like to see some retrospectives of classic photos that started some careers, or changed the sport back in the day.
