Trailforks Trail of the Month: Coronet DH - Queenstown, NZ

It is, & always has been a blown out DH track, & that's what makes it so awesome to ride !!! Dust off the DH Bike, Ride strong. hard & fast, It's the Motocross equivalent of a DH trail !!!

It's a Queenstown thing, saw so many DH rigs with that single speed & alfine / zip tie setup when I was last there.

@eastonwest: Yes, yes are Mis-matched suspension is the ultimate crime! Closely followed by running SRAM brakes & a Shimano drivetrain on the same bike, (or vice versa) The biggest MTB Ick !!!

[Update: Bike has been Returned] Jim Monro's Atherton DH Bike Stolen from Red Bull Hardline Tasmania

No surprises there Maydena is just like Rotorua in NZ, The riding is epic, but the towns themselves are depressed sh*tholes, full of poverty & drugs etc Our favorite game when visiting Rotorua was "count how many homeless meth-heads" on the way through town to the trails

Word has it there is some serious discontentment & concerns about the Hardline track at Maydena... The lower part of the hill simply isn't steep enough to accommodate the massive jumps & hence the steep landings required Dave McMillan's hugey crash during testing there that put him in hospital for a week is case & point (no pun intended) Track builders are freaking out a bit & in over their heads Major track changes are needed but its too late now I predict pretty heavy rider kickback about the course once the event proper gets underway... Mark my words: this will be a one-event-wonder, never to return...

So many Squids... That was a painfull watch, (& not cause riders were getting injured) Entering in the Mega... a quote comes to mind "Just because you can... doesn't mean you should" Or has the Mega become a bucket list event for the "all the gear & no idea"crowd?
