Must Watch: Matt Hunter's Family is All Smiles in 'Little Trail Hunter - Part 2'

bigquotesSince my own childhood, bikes have proven to enhance all experiences connected to them. It's a consistent positive effect on nearly every aspect of life. As a Dad it feels natural to share that with my kids. We have worked bikes into everyday life since the boys were able to walk, and the rewards have been tangible. I love the spaces where bikes demand we spend our time. A trail to a kid is a place where curiosity, discovery and adventure collide. It's a place where real experiences are found, both good and bad. It's a place without warning labels and plastic and rules. Where you can catch a frog and skin your knee and jump in a puddle.Matt Hunter

bigquotesCreating this film I wanted to capture the pure joy and happiness bikes bring to kids of all ages. The Hunter family has been a constant inspiration and reminder of why we ride bikes and how incorporating them into family life creates a healthy and natural learning environment. Having a camera around capturing these moments has been a true pleasure.Matty Miles, videographer

bigquotesWitnessing Matt’s family discovering all the freedom their riding has to offer, it feels like I’m rediscovering it for myself. So I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to have focused so much time on chasing them with my camera, tag/teaming the storyline with Matty while hunting out the magic moments of our days that could have been easily overlooked as ordinary.Dylan Sherrard, photographer

This is fantastic. My son and I watched the first trail Hunter before he could talk or walk. It inspired him to learn how to ride his push bike.. He just turned 5 and now we are building bike jumps. Thanks for getting him stoked, Matt and Robbie! Looks like you share amazing adventures together on your bikes.

I honestly thought my breakfast was wholesome, but then I click baited.

This is what life's about. Great video. When I asked my kids (14, 12, and Cool last night what we should do for spring break. The two older ones talked about going to see cousins, my 8 year old said, "let's go mountain biking." Guess who's the favorite?

 Best comment ever.

What a video. Hits you right in the feels. Great work.

This is the first argument for two kids that actually makes sense to me.

Thank you for something really lovely during a pretty crazy time. Much love to the Hunter family.

Beautiful pics from Spesh here and I love families that bike. That being said, strider bikes aside, Spesh literally makes some of the worst kids Mountain bikes for the price. We used to more Riprocks on the local Grom teams, thankfully that doesn't happen anymore as people have wised up and way better options for the same price have showed up. The poor Riprock kids were always in the back and limited. I'm hoping Spesh look at what Norco/NukeProof/Commencal/Spawn/Vitus/etc are doing and actually make something awesome and catchup. Giant's making a 24" airfork hardtail with hydro brakes iirc for 650$. Spesh wants like 1100$ for about the same bike with ridiculous geo. Vitus makes a similar bike for 499$. Sad
  • 11 1
Why is this sad? sounds like there are a number of great options out there - grab 'em and go ride. If Spesh cares tehy'll see the numbers and change, if not there are a ton of other great bikes out there for kids now. Kid on bike matters way more than which bike brand.

Finding a bike for kids is such a struggle. I didn't want to go "all in" on the new youth super bikes for my 7 year old so we went with the RM Growler. Seemed a great bike for the price. He loves it.

I’ve watched “Little Trail Hunter”, the first one, I have no clue how many times. It’s one of the best things ever posted. As a Dad of three boys, it encapsulates just about everything I want to be for them and instills hope that we can have similar moments.

Serious. . .thanks, and thanks for part 2.

I’ve had a ton of love for you all along this journey, Matty. You don’t know me, but you feel like family to me after all these years. Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to ride with my kids this wknd...

EBIKES! OMG!? How could they!? lol -- Guess all the ebike haters took a break today.
Love this video, stoked to get my kids out when they are old enough.
  • 5 1
haha right?! Maybe the Ebike haters can just take the rest of the year off?
  • 2 0
Brings new meaning to the phrase, “Gimme a boost dad!” Lol.
  • 3 3
Maybe ebike haters are becoming ebike riders. This is true for 70% of my friends who now ride both. Ebikes are now acceptable - get with the program or get off the earth.

Awesome video once again from Matt Hunter who clearly has his priorities right. Keep it going! So many great moments to share with the family. I started riding with my son when he was 4 years old and we have ridden ever since. Last year he has raced his first World Championships for XC and is one of the top 17-18 XC racers in the world. I still value every moment I got to ride with him through the years.

 Mac ride is fun times!

Just got one for my son's 2nd birthday. He loves it so much that I can't hardly get him off the bike which is okay by me!

I love riding with my three year old, either on the Mac Ride, or following him down the trail on his 14” wheeled bike. It is a different type of fun to riding on my own, the speed is lower, the trails are way tamer but seeing his rate of progress is better than pushing myself on the trails.

I just watched this with my boys, the 1 year old crawled over to his Strider (which is on a fixed rocking base) and the 3 year old asked if we could go riding tomorrow. Fully stoked family here!

My wife started crying after watching this video. Our little one is just starting to ride his strider. Thanks for the “happy tears.”

Feeling a little torn... As a parent I'm stoked on these adventures! Then, I'm hit with the hard reality that I'm failing as a parent!
  • 1 0
I feel the same way. I have built the Mrs. 2 different bikes up costing me thousands and have tried to get my daughter out on her bike with little luck. This has in turn reduced the amount I ride and left me uninspired.
  • 4 0
Priceless. Nothing I'd rather be doing than riding with my son. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Love it. Reminds when I taught my 6 year old stepson and nephew to ride trails - brings back good memories. Now they ride regularly with me.

Back then, Matt talked his mom's comment on how dangerous his job is.

Lying in bed with my 6month little guy after a rough night sleep, watching this not only distracted him for a bit but gives me hope for future adventures and riding bikes!

If only I could get my partner’s two boys to drop the electronics and actually take their bikes for a spin...it’s like pulling teeth. Awesome video, glad someone’s making it happen with the kiddos!

Genuinely lovely video. It reminded me of taking my boys out. Somehow the uphill bits for me didn't work out as near as cool as these guys make it look!! My boys are teens now and it's a lot harder to get them out! I'm just a bad parent.

Awesome vid! I shared it with some friends and family to show what all my bike fuss is about.. Smile
That being said, it's all a bit ironic given the fact that Specialized make terrible kids bikes (their smaller pedal bikes weigh tons and have coaster brakes).

Can’t wait to experience these moments with my 9 month old and hopefully more kids to come. Thanks for this awesome video Matt & Specialized!

Love this video, very inspirational. A Macride and a push bike are by miles the best purchases I did for my daughter, gave us many beautiful moments.
