Marin's Refreshed Alpine Trail E Comes With CushCore Tire Inserts
Marin is my favorurite brand. They seem to learn from their mistakes real fast, they listen to the customers....and they design products for real riders. Personally, I'm not after some of the ultra short seat tubes in some of their models as the new san quentin but in general, the brand is on top of my hypothetical next bike list. Maybe this is because I don't like any other big manufacturer nowadays and smaller ones i like, have ridicoulous prices.

Alpinestars Announces Spring 23 MTB Collection
I always hated power ranger style mtb specific gear and I'm starting to hate new trend mtb specific gear. It's still overpriced synthetic chinese stuff and now it resembles street or mountain clothing so much I wonder what is so different about it to make it worth paying that extra money. Wearing my cotton advertising tee while i'm riding my 26 bike makes me feel so f. good.

Video: Are E-Bikes For REAL Mountain Bikers?
Stop trying to sell us them. Stick to non-mountainbiker public, it seems to have been working fine. A friend's bike shop that sells A LOT OF BIKES sold just two regular full suspension bikes the whole last year. He seems pretty happy though, e-bikes make much more profit and more visits to the shop, expensive rapairs... I still don't know who can justify spending 6000€ on a 25kg bike when you can buy a low mileage turbodiesel car for less. C'mon, let's be honest, those are not bikes, those are not for bike enthusiasts, those are not good for our community. We all know all that deep inside, there's something not right in aiding pedalling unless you are old/injured. Even worse when you sacrifice all the joy with a heavy ass bike.

First Look: Gemini's 99-Gram Carbon Handlebar is Made-to-Order
Even chinese ultra light, forged and drilled everywhere funn copy stems hold up downhill riding surprisingly fine. I'm not saying that making sub 100 gram bars is a good idea at all but sometimes, asumptions are so wrong. It wasn't long ago that stems had 3 bolts for the steerer tube and weighted 500+ grams... If it wasn't for weight reduction ,we'd still be riding iron horse sundays with a double ring up front and not the fantastic enduro bikes we have today. Said so, my steel enduro hardtail weights about 15.5kg

Review: Troy Lee Designs' New Flowline Helmet
To me this is an improvement. Mtb helmets have always been a joke in terms of protection because falling was so rare. Now that disciplines are more downhill oriented helmets should be real. A DJ helmet offers 5 times more protection than a mtb helmet with a low weight and ventilation penalty. Also traditional vent design creates loads of rotational forces when crashing non flat surfaces. I love when companies realise trail helmets should resemble dj helmets more.next step would be thicker shells that could take more than 1 impact but that will never happen

Five Things We (Sometimes) Miss About Older Bikes
@JSTootell: yes and no. I just bought a retro 90's bike with lx parts and you can tell the difference in material quality in seconds. From rubber to forged aluminum....maybe today's inferior material quality is enough for today's low product's programmed life and of course engineering and processes are far superior now. But, attending to all factors: bikes were cheaper back in the day with a much higher workers/production ratio and real materials.

Video: Brad Simms Hits Creative Gaps in 'Good Times in Madeira'
Loved Brad when I rode BMX but let's be honest. I'm far from impressed with this bunny hop video and reading the comments make me feel sad about the sport. A big name takes the glory for nothing and all those underrated riders out there get no recognition for years and years of ripping. Brad is still far from his potential at MTB or even at an average ripper level. Being good at BMX street doesn't automatically turn you a pro MTB rider, that's why his riding still look a bit too stiff when he lands in transition like a sack of potatoes.. Definatelly helps a lot but you can't skip the years in the mountain...Glad he's had his opportunity in MTB and i'm sure he'll make it worth.

Shand Launches Ioma Hardtail with a 60-Degree Head Angle
@Uuno: In the case of riding a pretty steep 30º slope, the ground would actually react with a force PERPENDICULAR to the slope of 86.6% of what it would on a flat terrain so it's roughly the same . Personally, I can understand that hardtail angles steppen when sagged but don't forget a hardtail goes much slower than a DH bike and any of the benefits from a super slack head angle apply. As others said, the fork may eat some bumps, roots and rocks decently but it will act like a rigid fork in pretty much all landings. So it's a bit silly. I wish standard geometry made a comeback. For most of us bike control and fun factor > straight line speed!

25 Hardtails from Ard Rock 2022
@1aTom: I feel the same, long chainstays are ridiculous. Especially on hardtails, where non rear wheel landings feel twice as hard in the ankles. But trends are trends...Straight line riding and pedals assisted uphills is what's up this days. ♂️

First Look: ARC8 Essential - A Light & Aggressive Trail Bike
Apart from headset size, single chainrings, droppers and thru axles.... I feel like the bike instustry should have stopped like 14 years ago, in 2007, with models as the Pitch Pro...Bikes were made with much more common sense and aimed at the amateur ripper. WTF honestly needs electronic shifting, live valve,INTERNAL ROUTING, electric motors...Sad how they always succeed in turning something pure into pure business.
That said bike looks cool and has some good bits (in my opinion) like the spot on geo and looks, flex stays and rear shock guide.
