 LOL - "Loam"

"I know this sounds crazy but what if we just had one continuous rock garden and top it all off with a flat, grass turn at the finish"

I can honestly say that I've never wanted to be a Pro-Cat1 DH racer less than after watching that track of misery.

..says the single crown sissy. Looked fun to me.

@DoubleCrownAddict: Bahaha, to each their own I guess!

@DoubleCrownAddict: Agreed, actually makes me want to ride watching the gopro.

Riding east coast rock gardens are like taking shots of tequila, rough on the way down but tasty and whole lot of fun, even if it gets you in trouble now and then.
  • 9 1
@DoubleCrownAddict: what a weak headed individual you are

Massanutten DH is awesome. Chunky, fast and fully pinned the whole way down. You really get to hauling ass and having a good time on that mountain.

Do you have like one rock where you live?
  • 1 0
 @blowmyfuse: Yep, just the one

This DH track brought to you by the 2004 IMBA Guide to Trailbuilding

I think nobody can complain about this track being to bike park ish.

That trail is awesome, I am so sick of "flow trails" that have absolutely no flow and stupidly big rollers. Flow follows the natural contours of the land, it can't be forced

 holy rocks , batman

This where I live and ride. Also why I hate long, low and slack.
  • 2 1
How steep is it? Can't really tell but looks fun.

Kinda reminds me of the snowshoe track. Maybe because both are in WV.
  • 7 1
@mdinger: western VA, not to be confused with WVA
  • 3 0
@mdinger: Not that steep, just brutal if you make a mistake.
  • 2 0
 @preach: you're right! My bad!

I like the bit with the rocks

My local jam, although lostay on the western slope side usually (no lifts, more trail ish). The sections between rock gardens are more rocky that most rock gardens. It's a blast and sharpens your skills. 90% of the time I'm on a hardtail too

As a Cat2 4 Lyfe racer, the Cat1 course looks kinda fun. Probably not good trails for me on a race run, though - Broken Bones > Head to Tree > Friday Fails.

That video is fake! Everyone knows that they schedule the race weekend around a huge rainstorm! seriously, one of the funnest tracks I've ever ridden and it almost has as many rocks as the XC trails out here in the southwest. It is weird to see it dry though...it was ALWAYS raining on race day.
  • 1 0
well it did rain on race day, just not very long.

 Looks sick, Jake.

That track is actually incredibly satisfying to try and maintain flow/speed on... rocks trying to blow up your wheels everywhere!
  • 3 0
Jesus. Square edge rocks start to finish. Looks fun though, those poor bikes
  • 4 0
i like the grass bit at the end... actually looks like great track
  • 3 0
Hopefully the lift goes faster than it did a few years ago haha

Old school DH. They hosted a UCI World Cup using mostly this track in (1997?).
  • 1 0
Nope. Just the rock slabs up top is the only part of the old World Cup track used for this track. World Cup cuts off about 100 yards into this one
  • 1 0
I dont unsretand how the races never are on tracks like the world cup east coast racing is so rocky and tight trail complete opposite of fast and flow wide open
  • 1 0
cool track! like a flowy stone garden. bet this is what a rims nightmares are made of but it looks fun to ride. Cred to trail builders!
  • 4 1
 Downhill?
  • 2 0
work that suspension till it’s dead
  • 2 0
Track looks like fun, but no way that is “loam”
  • 1 0
Welcome to the southeast...we call gravel and rocks loam here ahaha
  • 1 0
looks like some knarl limestone! i love the saplings in the middle of the course
  • 1 0
 Great advertisement for tire inserts.
  • 1 0
That looks like a Cush Core + Forbidden Dreadnought track.
  • 1 0
Good vibes here all weekend. Neko puts on a good race.
  • 1 0
Massanutten - never translate that from German to English
  • 1 0
 Chunky monkey!

 Fast AF as always Jake.
