Norco's Shore line represents their vision of a serious and versatile freeride bike. They have been an important part of Norco's big-bike stable for many seasons now but for '09 the Shore series gets a makeover of Ricki Lake proportions. We're going to take a closer look at their all new Shore One, the top end bike in the line-up.

Norco Shore One
Norco's Shore line consists of three different models that all use the same frame as a starting point, a new for '09, 7" swoopy platform. The new design has some benefits that will translate over to the trail quite well.
We've got the one and only Jay Hoot's to guide us through his favorite bike in the line-up and the changes made for 2009:
Having the shock positioned lower within the frame will help lower the Shore's center of gravity even more. Some readers may also notice that the Fox shock is at quite a different angle than past years. This was done to tweak the suspension rate to perform better in more places on the trail. The new shape also lets Norco build a new smaller size in '09 for all you pint size pinners
The exaggerated curvy lines serve a double purpose: The first is that it just looks plain rad. Second, you gain loads of clearance. Whether you are a trickster that throws his legs over the top tube or a rider that likes to keep your hands in place at all times, one thing you'll benefit from is better stand over. The massive 1.5" headtube is forged for even more weld contact, and hence forth a stronger front end.
Out back sits a 12x150 mm MAXLE holding everything together. Light, strong, and stiff. No more having to carry 19 mm wrenches is a huge plus

The rad monster poster paint job and matching bars (look closely) are sweet, but the real standout for me is the inclusion of SRAM's HammerSchmidt crank system.
We'll be cover the HammerSchmidt system in more depth later on, but it makes a ton on sense to spec it on the Shore One. No more funky chain guides to tinker with and a shorter chain all equal less hassle and more riding time. Not to mention being able to shift while half cranking your way down a troublesome skinny or coasting up to a booter.

its the same suspention tard, its all just a difference of shock placement. the main frame is almost the same as the 08, so that would make the 7 and the shore the same last year to
The only tard here is you buddy. the difference between the two is that the shock AND link are both lower on the Demo, giving it more of a fluid feeling, and reducing the pedal-bob.
Look, a trendwhore teenager who bags on a bike because it shares design cues with another Horst-Link platform (which Specialized DID NOT develop - they leased the patent from Horst Lietner). God forbid it actually rides equally well. Then you'd really be pissed, eh?
2009 Norco's available from Sidwell Cycles in Exeter (England). Pre-order now for feb !
I love the shore bike and the Hammerschmidt is the best thing since toast!
I have ridden one of these bikes around a couple of times and it is actual amazing. It's like a demo but with the right amount of travel and a better wheelbase for UK.
I ride a 08 shore one, It has been one of the best bikes I have owned. Its always nice getting a bike and not have to redo all the components. The 08 is super stiff fast and feels bottomless (the 7" travel feels better than my old 9.5" travel giant team dh).
yeh, I meant they have interrupted seat-tubes, I prefer bikes with uninterrupted seat-tubes from my experience, I used to own a norco, they are good bikes, I just found the seatpost adjustability was a bit limiting.
Yeah, I've never understood why manufacturers don't put a tab at the seat-post limit...it would only add a few grams and eliminate the risk of killing the shock...oh well.
They kinda always have been since they licensed the Horst link from them, guess it's the best way to make it fit/work. Looks good though, and if the Spesh look doesn't quite do for you, the Norco's might...just different enough without losing the nice lines
Funky, I think not. Ugly at best, I'm sorry, in my opinion they aren't good looking at all. The specs are pretty stacked but the design doesn't do it for me.
They certainly do. I can understand how the styling isn't to everyones taste...took a while for the hydroform/wavy tubing to grow on me, but i like it.

Gotta love Norco!
