8 Takeaways from the UCI's 2025 Rule Changes
You've just regurgitated the US argument for pro sports, the same group who call their domestic competition the 'world series'. We bemoan euro-centricity from a fairly myopic position. Surfing, sailing, tennis, golf, skiing, rally, etc. ad nauseum are all professional sports and they don't follow this structure. (It was not intended to be as harsh as it sounds).

Industry Digest: Fox Factory Completes Marucci Sports Purchase, 'Ranger Trek' Trademark Appeals & More
@devinkalt: it comes from the Dutch/Afrikaner word that also means pull and historically was from a long arduous cross country journey, usually by ox wagon, hence the 'pull' reference

Racing Rumours 2024 Part 1: Danny Hart Off Cube, Vali to YT, the End of GT Factory Racing, Kintner Off Norco, & More
@Mtbdialed: but that's partly the point - the corporation isn't people, it isn't a person. It doesn't actually die. To add, a 'necessary evil ' argument is singularly naïve or disingenuous. Corporations are a lot like a mutated monarchy, where there are better rulers and worse rulers. Strangely, almost invariably, the better rulers were those who focused on the wellbeing of the people that made up the kingdom rather than seeing them as statistics that impacted outcomes. I think most peoples distaste for these announcements is amplified by the subtext that the corporation mouthpieces are saying whatever they think is needed to avoid this decision negatively affect sales.

Vista Outdoor Agrees to Buy Fox Racing for $540M
@thepwnstar39: Vista owns Bell and Giro, so would be prime example of same factory, different graphic theory. However its a fairly common practice in bike shops to get a customer to try on a Bell and a Giro helmet to work out head shape and fit. Bell is round, Smith Giro, Spes mid oval, Lazer more oval etc. In some ways there'd be less reason to stock Giro and Specialized helmets (different styles/look but same fit) than Bell and Giro (different fit, even they are the same company).

The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 117 - Mountain Biking's Worst (or Best) Cliché Crimes
Dot 5.1 and DOT 4.0 and DOT 3.0 are glycol based, so can be used interchangeably, Dot 5.0 is silicone based so shouldn't be used in glycol based systems. The difference between 3.0, 4.0 and 5.1 are the boiling points (5.1 having the highest).

Burning Question: What Do Racers & Team Managers Think About Discovery Taking Over the World Cup Rights?
@nilswalk:It's exactly this that concerns me. Everyone is asking about Discovery's intention but its the UCI intention that could be the scariest. All too cloaked and secretive with zero rider/team involvement. It's unclear if they even entertained a RB counter offer or if this was presented fait accompli. Or perhaps not even UCI - Prudhome/Amaury could have an in at Discovery and be pushing this!
