May Mountain Trip

Living in the mountains for 2 days! Not lots of filming as the trail was up one way and down another but we had a rocking ride both days! RideOn!

Nice travelogue style vid! I like your narration.. is very entertaining and refreshing! After living in the mountains for 3 weeks, waking up in a different location every morning I can really relate to this video!

Thank you Josh! We had a killer camp but just one night and 2 days on the trails. I wish I would have brought my chesty to film some of the ridge line! 3weeks must have been some good fun!

Meat on the BBQ looked good! Momo always puts me in a good mood.Smile
Did I see a satellite dish on the trail?
Interesting vid with plenty of narration. Next time film the steeps please.

 ahahhahhahahah
I think that was a mirror, its on all the corners here in Japan because the roads are so narrow you need to see if there is oncoming traffic! Was it when we were going up the bumpy road in his jeep?

Momo is a very outgoing dude and puts me in a good mood too!

Did you like the narration or would like more riding?
I wish we had the time to film here, there were some cool sections.
We rode the whole ridge blind just loving the flow.
About 60% of the ridge was too steep and rocky to ride down, I thought I was going to die,a hahaahhah
We had to walk a ton thats why we were so beat!
hahahahh

RideOn!

The narration is your trade mark. Your vids are great because of your sound effects and narration. tough act to follow.
I enjoy doing epic rides into new territory. Some times you are happy to make it back to camp alive.
Your BBQ s look perfect for getting that smokey flavour!
Have you thought have making a song from Momo,s sound effects and your narration? Overlayed to some beats??

That would be cool! A mix of Momo's funky laughs and some beats! It would come out cool! The little BBQ's are sweet. They took a while to make but they fold up flat and burn natural wood. After about a good 30minute burn while adding new sticks, the embers are perfect for grilling. We had lots of Sakura branches which have a nice sour bitter smoke to them. Then because it contains the fire, you can have a nice camp fire that burns hours on just little branches and sticks. Im stuck in 3 weeks of festivals here in Japan. So this was a good trip to do until I can get in another ride! My legs were sore for days after from all the climbing, ahahhahha I have 2 more weekends of festivals then I can get in a good ride!

The two MTB actors with a lot of talking this time, awesome mountain adventure!

 ahhhahhaha
Yes, the trail was in the opposite direction.
Usually we film as we hike up but this trial we hiked up one way the descended the other so, instead of riding I added our commentary. I thought it came out in like a simple documentary!

Did you like the talking or do you want to see more riding?

 Thank you Jan!
Hey I just got the guide buddy!
It looks beautiful in all carbon, wicked!
What brand is it?
Momo will be stoked!

Momo had some slippage on his rotor so he was putting some sand in hopes the abrasiveness would take off any extra oil, but he put way too much dirt and rocks, ahahhahhahhah
It work as he didn't complain the rest of the ride!

I was lazy this ride and didn't film lots.
I made some fat chicken steaks, lean steak, curry soup and curry udon.
We ate like kings!

But, after the first ride as we were eating, Momo fell asleep in his chair so, we called it early.
I wanted to drink more and relax under the moon but our 5hour ride really taxed momo! hahahahhaha

RideOn bud and thank you for the sweet carbon!

right on. A friend of mine that I met on pinkbike made that and he was thinking it would be a start-up but has since switched to aluminum. The company is called OLIX and I think you can find him on here. It worked really well for me but I recently switched to a clutch derailleur and n/w tooth front ring. I don't think I'll need it anymore. It was awesome when I had it installed though. My hardtails album shows it on a kona steely that I had it on for a while. Hope he enjoys it!

Oh man I need to go camping with you guys. Those meals sound heavenly. Nothing better than eating well in the woods!

 Thank you Jan!
You buddy did a great job on that device.
Im stoked to have had it shipped to Japan!

I will have to look up some of your pictures.

When I go camping, I pack as light as I can but bring lots of easy to make meals.
I mostly use oatmeal rolled and unrolled for a more rice like consistency. Then I also use some 3 minute little curly past too. Just add herbs to your starch some chicken or vegetable stock creating a flavor you like.
Then, you just add water and boil into a thick or thin soup. Super easy cheep and delicious.

Then sausages are good because they really wont go bad but if you bring other meat you must eat it soon or have a cooler. This was a car camp so food was a bit on the fancy side.
I sure wish I had gotten a shot of all we ate.

The curry came out good but way too spicy for Momo.
He mustered up and ate it all. It lasted for Dinner, breakfast and then lunch the next day.

Please join us on a camp!
This was the BBQ we were using.

This is my little creation, I used spokes for the hinges, hahahhahha
But, I left a link in the video where you can buy a real on from the company.
They are hand for cooking and a little confined campfire that burns very little wood!

that's awesome. I think I'll try to make one for our trips. Very compact and light I expect. Fantastic man. BurnOn!

 hahahahha Burn on man!

Looks like a blast, but what on earth is Momo doing to his rotors? That looks like brake abuse!
  • + 1
 Thank you mate!
We hope to plan a road trip to meet you and Dave and Izumi.
Momo and I were talking about how and when we should go.
I will let you know how our plans unfold.
My wife and kids are going to California for 5 weeks in summer, then I will meet up with them for the last 2 because of work. So, we are talking about possibly heading that way when I get back in either early or late September. Hows that sound? If we came out on train, could either you or Dave pick us up? We would train in to your closet station or a station on the way to Izumi. We are trying to refrain from driving out as we might be too tired to ride! ahhahahahahahhah

Momo had some slippage on his front brake so, the abrasive nature of the sand and dirt can help take off a thin layer of oil or glaze to get a nice bit again. However Momo obviously put way too much dirt with rocks too! ahhahahhahha

RideOn Marky!
