I think steves point about bmx is wrong as bmx's where first used to race on tracks hence bicycle moto cross. They have evolved for park, street and dirt so why cant mtb do the same.

A mountain bike is a bike meant for 'offroad', ridden downhill and uphill. I could never imagine that bike being ridden offroad(unless for dj). That's where you are wrong dude. Just because a bike can be ridden there doesn't mean it is meant to. That is why this bike is hardly a mtb at all. It doesn't belong on a trail, so why is it considered a mountain bike.

No. You didn't read my post correct at all. That is exactly opposite of the point I was trying to make. Just because something it is ridden somewhere doesn't classify it as used for that terrain, it depends how the bike was and is built. So.... parts, travel, how many brakes, what size wheel, what width of wheel, the geometery. These all come into play when determining what type of bike you are riding.

can we just say that he bought it as an MTB and converted it to a park/street bike. cos i bought a 2008 STP2 and rode Dowhill on it for 18 months before i upgraded to a full suspension bike. and just for the record, he is riding a DJ bike...... dumb a5s's. if you look at it, that bike fails on those ramps. the bike lands a the bottom. and i dont see how he is the best rider in the world, he did a tail whip, a 360 and a bar spin...... id like to see him win crankworks woth that bag of tricks........

All biking should be about is having a good time out riding. No one gives a shit about what you ride or where you ride it. I wouldin't care if a some guy goes to the park on a 12 speed, its his bike and he should de what he wants with it.
So what if the guy ride a mountain bike in a park, at least hes good unlike some BMXers who cant do shit in park. I'd like to have someone like that around atleast shows the deversity in what a bike can do.

You don't need a skateboard to ride in a skate park, nor do you NEED a BMX. There's nothing wrong with taking your hardtail to a park, lots of people do it.
