Unreal. This kid actually has incredible style. Not just a confident tech rider who goes fast, which you see out of a lot of young rippers. He has the wherewithal to throw down some great steeze and stand out.
I wish there were a couple more shots of him on those jumps. Throughout the edit its like, "this kid can shred" but it didn't really stand out to me until those jumps. His opp whip/scrub is so much better than most people's normal whip... insane style. I hope to see more edits of him coming out soon.
He's been putting up race results to back up that style. IIRC, he had the fastest time on the day at Utah series finals in Brianhead. Potential top pro in the making, if he stays on track.
Love the front wheel tap on that boulder on Insurgent. Would have looked cooler with that silly roll-over feature burning at my bonfire before the filming There's a ride around if you're not sure about hitting it the first time. Keep the suspense available on a black. Don't water it until it turns blue.
Joey is a fully sponsored rider and deserves it. He is more pro than most and is a great kid with his head on straight. He went undefeated this year racing legit events like Sea Otter, Natl Champs, Bootleg Canyon series and the Utah Gravity series. Beating most of the pros at most of the events along the way. Congrats on the coverage Joey, well deserved my man!
at 14 I was riding inner city on an old beat up 3spd banana seat CMM mustang painted black with a road seat, & moto-x bars. Pulling wheelies and riding down the stairs of a park path system, looking for single track before I knew what single track was. Remember rebuilding that bike but not sure what happened to it.
The best part of Joey is how he behaves off the bike, he's a great kid, very thankful and appreciative. Props to his parents for doing such a great job in raising Joey. Cheers, DVO!
I love that a suspension company really recognizes people on a really cool level like this. When was the last time you saw the Tail or the Scram get one PB and say words like these. I don't know this kid or have ever met him, but he kills it through that tree section that you know has gotta be steep. Faster than most of us even the ones that don't want to admit it. I feel confident that I know what suspension I want to buy for the new season. It also helps seeing young kids cooking down the hill on the precious gems!
At 14, I was riding a rigid steel GT Timberline with cantilever brakes that I bought for $550 with every scrap of money I had saved. And maaaan I was happy. Amazing how crazy talented so many young riders are nowadays.
Great riding, Joey has been ridiculously fast for awhile, and is only getting faster. Hope to see him racing the world cups someday soon. Gotta agree with the above comment on this song though, it was on a commercial for Motosport.com during the Lucasoil Motocross races and made me cringe every time I heard it. Oh well, still a ripping rider!
Its been awesome to see him and the group he rides with grow SO much. Joey has had style for miles since he was 8/9 when I first saw him. The riding is awesome. Liked the end the most, I don't think there has been a time I have seen him where he doesnt have a huge smile on his face.
@rrsport Its not like his parents are just rich and he rides nice bikes. This kid is stupid fast and has the style to back it. Riding for the GT Factory team isnt bad either...
B: Meh, I sold the bike
