Speed and style is a f*cking joke...when a 4x racer doesn't need to trick to win, it's a waste of time. Every year it's the same joke of a format, you can only pull back 1 second per jump (assuming a perfect score), so 2 seconds over the entire course, any 4x racer worth their salt beats anyone capable of pulling tricks that score 50+ by more than 2 seconds will automatically win. Yet the commentators act so surprised when the guy thats 2 seconds down doesn't win the heat.
It's called speed AND style, if you can win with one, or the other, it's garbage.
Not to mention the girls that want equal prize money, and recognition yet only 2 ladies even bother competing, and theres not a single trick thrown, take a hand off the bars, or pull an x-up at least. It's pretty obvious why the prize money differs.
Seems like maybe the scoring should be capped at max +2 seconds for speed, as that is the max for style. Otherwise there can be a pretty heavy advantage to speed.
As soon as you are someone go in the corner of you write it's really hard not to go yourself too. If he hadn't been disqualified from his heat I think he would have won. He was so fast and was throwing pretty big too
If I remember right for dual slalom riders often get one false start reset and then if they jump the gun again it's DQ. This sort of solves the problem of both riders starting early since it's the second rider often goes just because the first did.
The gate shouldn't have fallen down. Rather than disqualify him they should have made them redo the run since it was the equipment that messed up. But scoring and timing with Speed and Style has always been a shit show at Crankworx, so I'm not sure what I'm expecting.
It was really quite painful to watch in person with ad breaks in the live show and fill in segments when they played clips for the online audience. It felt really drawn out and quite a few people were leaving before the end.
