Hailing from the Welsh Valleys of the UK, 2014 saw the rise of Manon Carpenter from humble beginnings to being crowned the UCI World Cup Overall Champion, UCI World Champion and UK National Series Champ. Making her mark in history on the world of Downhill Mountain Biking.
Be it a BMX, her pw80 or Mountain Bike – Manon grew up on bikes and with her dad Jason guiding her every step of the way it was inevitable that their friendly rivalry would take her to the top.
Following her rise to the number one spot, 2015 was always going to be the hardest year of her career. With the start of the season filled with setback after setback, it was clear a repeat was off the cards but that finding her passion for riding was key to going faster.
With the 2016 season just days away, we take a look at what made Manon Carpenter, the story of her rise from the welsh valleys to the top of the world stage and how she has prepared for the season ahead. This is Manon Carpenter, Valley Uprising.

The Parent of the Century Award goes to Manon's dad, hands down.
Also it certainly seems like she's more prepared for this year -- winning the first BDS by 7seconds on a short course holy moly
I CANNOT WAIT FOR LOURDES WC SUNDAY MORNING AAAAAAAAAAH!
Remember: Today you may be the oldest you've ever been, but it's also the youngest you'll ever be again!
Something like that was said by Eleanor Roosevelt
I'll never forget the 1st time I went to Rampworld and my front caliper self destructed on the 1st run, after the dentist had f*cked up putting in my tooth that morning, and my track pump had exploded in the car park before I went in... Mad how little things like that can mess with your head.
Most of last year I had the prospect of losing my driving license hanging over me... the court case was just before the Van Rd Dual Slalom and I was waiting on the verdict when I went, so wasn't at my best, but Manon's dad was kind enough to help when I lost my phone
But hey, shit happens... the good news is everything in life is temporary and even if you have a bad year, soon enough things will be back on track.
Good luck to Manon this season, she should probably watch that dodgy Tahnee Seagrave though.

So yep, I can relate to having a shitty year, but life goes on...
No doubt Manon will be back on top of the box again soon enough, and it's a fair bet Tahnee Seagrave will he hot on her heels too
We'll just have to see how shit goes down.
