Fall in Santa Barbara is a lot like any other time of year; hit the trails and you're sure to get a nice helping of dust and rocks. The weather's great and the views don't suck, so we thought we'd make the most of still being able to ride in shorts and a T-shirt and get out and film on some local favorites. Enjoy.

I'm not really impressed with the riding off the trail at 53 seconds and a few other parts. This is how our singletracks become 3+ feet wide plus mountain bikers are under enough scrutiny in SB. (Bring on the down votes.)
Tell me about it! The hikers are super rude and always trying to make the trails illegal for bikers. It's always a battle. The trails are awesome by the way...
I was wondering if somebody was going to mention the bells.
I rode a few DH trails out there many years ago and a local shop loaned me a bell, insisting all mountain bikers must wear them.
I honestly thought they were clowning me but I guess not. I wore my bell like a good little rule follower and even stopped to have some feel-good conversations with hikers.
But the guys at the LBS weren't kidding; most people want nothing to do with mountain bikers in Santa Babalon. Good trails tho.
Man I totally wanna lynch this perish for adjusting on the trails, too.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the very first video in the history of PinkBike to show someone getting a little out-of-sorts on the trail and he should be nailed to the cross for it.
If there's one thing every single one of us PinkBikers can agree on it's that skidding and roosting are no bueno, bro.
Haha, I see what you are saying. It just seems like trails in SB are on the brink of being closed to bikers and that trail in particular has huge erosion issues.
Not Californians you need to worry about, its the hipsters, illegals and their exponential amounts of children, and crazy democrats trying to shut down trails and raise taxes to support the illegals having their babies while not paying the bill. I could go on all day. Give me all the down votes you want that just makes people eager to read what was said anyways. I'm a cowboy and I ride a steel horse (not carbon fiber)
somismtb, you are absolutely correct. It is pretty depressing to watch my home state turn in to a cesspool of high taxes, over-regulation, and illegal immigration. Born & raised in Cali but I'm sad to say once I retire I will be leaving this state and never looking back.
The winters, they be so harsh there. I heard that once in December guys were seen riding with long sleeve shirts. Very nice edit-good job Jimmy and Satchel!
I'm very fortunate to have been born and raised in So Cal. The trails aren't the best in the world but 300+ days out of the year you can ride your bike(s).
Lived in IV for college... Didn't ride bikes, just drank beers. Wish I owned a bike then to ride these great looking trails. But don't wish Ida drank less beers.. They were great.
I was explaining the different Processes and what the ideal type of riding would be on each bike to someone and then I came to the conclusion that if I could afford them all I would own them all...
Sounds to me like Satchels parents hated him. He must also hate himself for legally keeping the name "Satchel". The only thing worse would be "fanny pack". Maybe his parents were hipsters.
I actually live in SoCal, but my wife is from Malaysia (Johor, although I have been all over peninsular M'sia). I've seen dudes riding there, but it's so hot and humid. Plus the snakes. And red, sticky mud. And crazy rain storms. Tigers.
But I bet there are some awesome trails. The mountains are beautiful and lush, compared to our generally brown, treeless desert.
Yes, it's hot and humid but not all the time! I ride mostly in the morning, so it's not too bad. We've got two seasons: wet and dry. Look me up next time you're here. And the snakes really are shy animals, yes you do see them, but they mostly get out of the way fairly quickly, especially cobras. Unless you go poking around in places where you're not supposed to be, that is!

So when and where do we meet with our torches?
