by Polygon Bikes
Seattle, WA: Polygon Bikes, a global bicycle manufacturer, announced that Nelson, BC local and freeride specialist has signed on to join the Polygon team for the 2015 season. Sorge, or Sorgelhoff as he's known to friends and fellow competitors, is a passionate and talented freerider and brings a wealth of experience to the Polygon team. Kurt's accomplishments include: 1st place 2012 Red Bull Rampage, 1st place 2009 Chatel Mountain Style, 2nd place 2008 Red Bull Rampage and many film credits including the "New World Disorder" series, "Follow Me", and "Where the Trail Ends".

bigquotesKurt's long time involvement with freeride, as a competitor, builder and organizer, shows his commitment to the sport. We are excited to have his input and expertise. Matt Karaus, Marketing, Polygon Bikes.

Welcome to Polygon Kurt

Kurt joins other Polygon sponsored riders including Mick and Tracey Hannah, Jamie Nicol and Sam Reynolds. Kurt plans to compete in the 2015 Red Bull Rampage, Crankworx Best Whip Comp and The Fest Series, where he is one of the principal organizers and hosts his own event, Hoff Fest, in his hometown of Nelson, BC. Kurt is further involved with filming the sequel to "Where the Trail Ends.

Welcome to Polygon Kurt

Along with providing exposure for the Polygon brand at freeride events, Kurt will work closely with the Ripple Coalition, Polygon's global design team, providing valuable input and feedback on current and new designs.

bigquotesI am really excited about joining the Polygon team! I have kept my eye on the brand for a while now and to end up with them at this point in my career I couldn't be happier. The team is stacked with some of my favorite riders and I am stoked to get some shred time with them. I have been riding the bike for about a month now and I gotta say they have done a killer job! I am feeling right at home on the new rigs and I can't wait to continue the season onboard the new rides! To have the support from Polygon and input on development program is amazing and I can't wait for the year(s) ahead!" - Kurt Sorge.

Welcome to Polygon Kurt

I started a new bike company called "Tetrahedron" we have 3 wheels and no brakes. I offered Kurt the sponsorship, but he said silly things like "you don't have any money" and "I can't ride this, it's a wheelbarrow"

Shoulda called it Dodecahedron & made the wheels outta that shape & then sold it to him using the same level of hyper gimmickry as Boost & 650B.
  • 2 2
What anyone know why sorge is leaving Giant!? Giant is such a awesome bike company and thier bikes too!
@BenjaMama Hahahaha best video i have seen in comments! xD
  • 2 1
My wheelbarrow only has one wheel.. at the front..
  • 4 0
It LOOKS like a wheelbarrow, but it's a finely built piece of yardwork engineering. His loss, I'm going to try Gwin next.
  • 84 2
Nicccceeeee.... man Giant has really cut back their budget who even rides for them anymore? ... their loss.
  • 36 1

  • 14 1
@DARKSTAR63 they dumped sorge so they could fund there enduro team more, pretty dumb of them but i guess sorge came out winning cuz now hes on polygon
  • 24 1
Yeah I understand the reasoning. It makes sense for companies like Giant to put money into selling bikes that, well, sell. There is another way to look at this though - exposure for the brand is exposure for the brand. Sorge brings a lot of it. Even though most people riding mountain bikes don't compete in Rampage or even send anything remotely big .. or buy a bike that does that... I think that free riders sell more bikes than people realize. I know plenty of XC rider's who check out Rampage when it comes around. Trek gets it, they didn't even make slope style bikes YEARS, and even now don't sell many. Yet they fund quite a roster of slope style and free riders. Because seeing Trek flying through the air sells Treks to lots of riders, not just guys who get rowdy.

Screw Giant there are better bike companies out there
  • 1 0
You should work for Giant Darkstar63. And they need to get that Maestro suspension on some slope bikes. I guess winning 2012 Rampage was not enough for Giant. Yoann Barelli better start making some more of those comedy biking video's to pick up the slack.
  • 4 2
Why is Giant losing all thier legend riders!?!?!?!? Giant have so awesome bikes!!!
  • 2 2
I heard they wasted so much money trying to tell people overdrive 2 was cool that they couldn't pay anyone but a bunch of enduroers and that Brazilian guy.
  • 1 0
@xCri Haha what!?!?! if thats true HOW the ** did they waste so much money on a steertube? and stop paying their best riders like danny hart and kurt sorge!!? i guess my bike dont have that kind of thing but i can still ride haha i dont get it what does the overdrive 2 do?

Drives me nuts when north american riders are with companies that don't have north american dealers (as far as their own website is concerned). Any guesses what those bikes are worth (COLLOSUS)?
  • 12 1
Polygon is selling bikes customer direct in North America. You can find out more information at www.polygonbikes.us

@Polygonbikes Any idea when these new colossus frames are going to be available? They are looking pretty production ready now.
  • 1 0
They are still in the prototype stage, there is a batch floating around out there now that could be the final change but there has not been a decision on if or when we will change.

I'm just going to throw this out there for all those delusional 12-16 year old kids that think 20k is big money... I would love to see you come out from under your parents roof and pay your own way with that, and while you're at it...that's 16k...after taxes...now buy a 10k bike, pay $1200 a month rent add utilities, before cable and the internet so you can bitch on pinkbike...etc... oh and you want a car and insurance right?
  • 23 0
 20k is 20k
  • 10 0
20k is obviously not his entire yearly income. And considering that 40k is the median household income in the US, 20k is quite a bit of money to a majority of the population.
  • 2 0
20K is a brandnew car. or 2 DH WC ready MTB's. heck, i can't even afford one half of a world cup ready DH bike.

  • 1 0
The only 26" bike they make for men is the STP. The Glory you could use for big mountain but what about slope events? I guess you could use a hard tail at Crankworx... They should bring back the Faith 7". And actually get more riders. They do have a large road team but who really wants to see a road race? XD
  • 1 0
Rich twats watch road races. Hmmmmm
