SPY released an extremely unusual TV commercial spot that airs this week during the Tour of California (ToC) bike race. The unique 30-second spot features freestyle MTB rider Mike Montgomery pulling off huge airs and a high flying backflip—maneuvers usually only attempted on much beefier equipment like motocross, BMX and freestyle mountain bikes. Check it out:

“The idea seemed pretty crazy at first," explains Montgomery, who is a pro at doing similar tricks on Freestyle Mountain bikes built to take abuse from hard landings."Right up until moments before cameras began rolling, we weren’t sure if I was going to break the frame or taco the tire. The bike Specialized made for me held up perfectly on flips, super flips and spins. It was fun making this commercial with SPY, and I think people are going to really trip out when they see it.”

The Pinkbike user with the best road bike comment wins the bag, an
Evoc Freeride 20L series riding pack.
Sometimes we forget that it's all in the rider not in the bike. Just ride!!
Onto the trails, not that my bike cares.
It's handling well, dispite the wear and tear
The frame hasn't broken yet, let's go get air!
Straight air? No, no, thats not how we do.
Straight to a flip! Wearing spandex to boot!
Road bike faired, ready for another hit.
And when I landed that super flip everyone..
.. well. You know what rhymes with hit.
Well i was riding my road bike and all of a sudden i slipped of the road hit a bump did a backflip and my feet came off. I looked like super man, landed and then hit another bump and my legs came off and for the second time i looked like super man, but then because i was on a road bike slipped out on the corner thing and slipped because my tires were stupidly thin and slick, i then hit a tree and my bike broke ... so i was wondering can i have a new bike???
PS: He even has a bottle, should be to compact the dirts.

A 20 litre Evoc Freeride Bag is waaay too big for a road cyclist to be doing back flip tricks.
Duhh!
The top FMB world tour riders have noted this, and have begun switching out their bikes for faster rotaions."
How'd you destroy your frame and rim?
I don't know I was just riding normally and it just snapped...
Mountain biking is what all roadies WOULD do, if they had the balls!
And this is crazy,
But here's a road bike,
So flip it maybe?
