Another video watching guys jack up the trails, skidding all over the place just to make a cloud of dirt. We fight constantly with the other users groups in the tahoe area just to keep the trails open. This just make the argument more difficult.
  • 7 9
The local XC guys just had a big meeting discussing how bad the DH guys are. I know that feel.
  • 4 6
Yes, making dust to sell products is pretty short-sighted when it endangers the market for those products.
  • 13 5
What dh rider is riding on xc trails? Pretty sure the only trail ive ever shared with an xc bike is a fire road to the top of the mountain.
  • 13 0
Mikey invited us up to do some filming and testing on the trails he rides all the time, we are really sorry if our two riders destroyed your trails, it wasn't the intention.
  • 17 2
When one of the featured riders is one of the main trail builders its seems relatively senseless to limit whether he can film or how he rides. The dirt in the area is hard to ride at high speeds without causing some sort of disturbance, but I can promise you that when rain comes you will see Mikey out building and making those trails cleaner than before. Its disappointing to see so many people misunderstanding what we were trying to do.

Holy fuck, get over it. What shitty place it must be to live where a person riding a bicycle in the woods is the source of such controversy.
  • 1 0
Just rode around Tahoe and can say limited dust wit pinner berms & packed lips! Thnx locals Ur Trails Rule!
  • 3 0
@freeride-forever welcome to the good old USA where riding a bike is a crime!
  • 20 7
so your the ass hats that blew out the berms and rutted everything i fixed up
  • 6 1
I truly hope you're sarcastic! If a trail cant handle riding, its a trail not built well.
  • 1 0
that 2nd trail is a quality built trail but with Tahoe dirt its not hard to destroy a berm
  • 4 0
Sorry buddy, it wasn't our intention to jake up your trails. Mikey rides there all the time and spends hours working on those trails too.

Still more marketing and no product available. I'm kind of burnt out on DVO now. Wake me when they have something for sale other than T-shirts, hats, and water bottles.

Hello BaeckerX1, you have to remember we started this company little over a year ago. We will be shipping products in little over a month and we have been working extremely hard to put out a perfected product that's 100% developed.
  • 18 4
I get it guys. I just feel like I've been constantly inundated with information about DVO for over a year and have seen nothing come to fruition. It almost seemed like vaporware. I was seriously looking into your fork, but had to get something else cause I just couldn't wait any longer. That's not to say I won't look into your product again at one point, cause I really do like what you guys are doing, it's just that I'm a little burnt out on it right now. Sorry if that came across kinda brutish. It's a new generation and if you don't strike while the iron is hot, people quickly lose interest. I think the pre-launch info campaign started WAY too early, that's all. When there's something available I look forward to hearing about it and reading the reviews.
  • 2 0
@ DVO - Great work so far. Do you have a New Zealand distributor lined up yet?
  • 4 7
Yeh seriously, stop advertising stuff that is completely unproven and not for sale, its plain crazy, come back when you have something to offer and proper dealership & support network
  • 3 0
People just don't understand how much work goes into making a production fork. The fact that in a year you have made it this far is pretty amazing. I Can't wait to see how they ride I know I'm planning a new build for 2014 and this is on my radar.
  • 1 1
You're missing the point. It's all the advertising pre-launch that I'm tired of. It has nothing to do with how long the fork takes to make. It would be like Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc. advertising a car on TV over and over again then telling you that you couldn't buy it yet. Then over the course of a year you continue to see the same car repeatedly on TV ads and they keep saying it's not available yet, but will be soon, but they don't know when. Eventually wouldn't you get tired of seeing stuff advertised that you can't even buy yet? That's my only point. I like what DVO is doing with their suspension. They look like top-notch products that I'm very interested in. However, I think their marketing department is working a bit too hard trying to convince us how relevant they are before they have anything for sale. I was super excited about them when I first heard info, but after months and months of no launch date or even a targeted launch date, I'm very lukewarm. Give us marketing? Give us product. Just my 2 pennies.

BaeckerX1: It normally takes auto makers years to produce a car, they show it at a car show 3-5 years before even considering it for production. The main point of showing videos and having Cedric Gracia race on it at the World Cup level is to show everyone that yes, the new Emerald and Jade do perform at the highest levels of competition. We have done a large amount of testing and tuning, a lot more than most other companies do before they launch a product. We are also a two months late in releasing the Emerald because Cedric gave us some very important feedback that we felt was necessary to incorporate into production. We are currently shooting to ship product the first week of Sept. Cheers, DVO
  • 1 0
I'm glad all your testing and racing has paid off. Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, cause more competition in the suspension game is always good.

To ctd07: We have many top level distributors already lined up to include; Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, UK, CZ Republic, Andorra, Spain, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Korea, South America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.... plus, many others. For a new product, we have our distribution and service infrastructure 100% in place. Cheers, DVO
  • 1 0
BaeckerX1: its always good to get everyone's feedback and we are so anxious to get our products out there, you have no idea! We hope to earn your business someday and the Emerald will be available the first week of Sept! Cheers, DVO!

it would have been cool to see these dudes film at Northstar
  • 5 1
Just wait and see whats in the works!
  • 2 0
just throwing it out there. Great vid but for it to showcase the suspension you should have mounted a go pro or something to the fork aiming down, so you could watch it working. slow it right down would look pretty sick. watch the kona operator saint video if you dont get what i mean as that shows what the bike dose. this great idea can be rewarded with one of your forks...lol haha joke aside doing that will showcase how the product works, and get more people talking about it, otherwise its just another edit with some sick riding.
  • 2 0
We agree with ya 100% and our film crew is working on something to release soon. Cheers, DVO
  • 1 0
 look forward to seeing that
  • 5 0
tahoe truly has some beautiful scenery...
  • 6 0
 the dust is over 9000!!!
  • 3 0
That's NorCal Dirt............Northstar, tahoe, it's all moondust!! amazing riding by these guys, cause it's not easy to rail through the stuff!
  • 4 0
Other than the editor chopping the song up badly, great video and riding! Always good seeing Mikey tear it up
  • 1 0
I love shralping too! The dust looks wiked. But this is a DVO suspension vid. If you could show some ultra slomo shots going through stutter bumps and baby head rock gardens that would be cool. Then I can drool at the screen while watching the sliders pumping like a high class porn shot. Am waiting with mucho anticipation for the DVO goods to be on the market.
  • 3 1
Sickeningly sik bikes, and a beautiful place.Have to say, these DVO forks do look the mutts nutts, performance wise as well as looks wise. Can't wait to see more.
  • 3 1
 Thanks!

  • 4 0
Sweet! Tahoe has great riding and was an awesome location to shoot for the vid. Have fun up there!
  • 3 3
 @dvo
why don´t you comment on that?

Kill-e-brew(7 hours ago)

so your the ass hats that blew out the berms and rutted everything i fixed up

if you blow out public trails and others have to fix it afterwards -> really not cool :-(
...you should be sentenced with at least one trail day
  • 2 0
 We just did.
  • 5 3
Pretty sure those rocks above Donner Lake are NOT open to bikes. Just sayin.
  • 1 0
So now Cedric Gracia has quit WC DH, who is helping develop the Emerald? Of course I'm sure he will be heavily involved in the Jade...
  • 9 0
Cedric has only retired from WC racing. He will still heavily be involved in the development of all our products. He is also going to be racing the Enduro World Series helping to develop our enduro product.
  • 1 0
What when did this happen an why?

Sorry I have been out of the country ( no Internet access)

Or am just challenged and missed this entirely
  • 1 0
clarky, the two guys you just watched are helping. Cedric is amazing, I know. But he didn't do all the work himself.
  • 1 0
@c4mtb: Just recently. The previous wc at Andorra is his last one. He's still planning to be more active racing enduro though, not to mention his vids.

CG has played an integral part in fine tuning and race testing the Emerald and Jade, he will continue to do so with every DVO product in the future including our new Enduro Line. We have also used many other top level and even not so top level riders to test and evaluate our products. Cheers, DVO

  • 1 0
 Thanks!
  • 2 0
Conditions looks so great at tahoe!
  • 4 6
I have to agree with Todd above, why is it necessary to make a video showing the riders tearing up public trails? If you want to show off your DH fork, why not do it at a DH course instead of a shared trail. Worse yet, it looks like you poached and documented it. Its a shame for all of us that just want to enjoy being out there and are doing our best to demonstrate to other public users that mountain bikers are not bad.
  • 12 1
How is it possible to "poach" a shared (public) trail.
Doesn't DVO have the same right to use (and film) on that trail as you?

Also, to all the trail nazis posting above; what do you guys do on those trails when they are dry like that? Do you just carefully ride through, making sure you don't disturb the fragile balance holding those precious grains of dirt/dust together?
  • 2 5
The rocks above Donner Lake are not legal to ride, that is poaching. As to their right to tear up the trails, yes they can, but that doesn't make it right. Contrary to what you may think, there are a lot of users (myself included) who don't want to ride blown out trails and are careful to not tear up the trails for the next user.

There is a place for downhilling and tearing up trails nearby, it is called Northstar.
  • 4 0
both of the trails shown in the vid are not public trails..also sylvestri puts in a good amount trail work on both of the trails..so yes he can tear them up..
  • 1 1
Not sure how this works. They're not public trails but sylvestry can build and ride them?
Are the trails on sylvestry's private land? If so, I understand the problem. If not, how does he have special rights to them?
  • 2 1
do you know where those two trails are?? i wouldnt call a local unknown trail a "public trail", thses two trails are wayy more low key and not known about than everything across the street from the northstar...
  • 2 1
 Like..!!!!!...greeeeeenn!!!!

Anyone know how much travel is on the DVO emerald fork?
  • 4 1
 Roughly 500mm
  • 7 1
500? damn I was holding out for 499mm, 500 is a bit much for me
  • 1 0
 Yah thats a bummer..
  • 2 0
203 mm of travel or exactly 8"
  • 2 0
 1:49 - 1:50 (!) Sick.
  • 1 0
when are they released i want one
  • 1 0
We are shipping the first week of Sept!
  • 1 0
also any ideas on a rough retail price?
  • 1 0
I think they have said around $1600. Looks to be well worth it!
  • 1 0
awesome if there that price i will be buying one
  • 1 0
I do remember DVO had post on PB a couple months ago. I'm almost positive on that price. The forks look awesome! Would love to try a invert fork and DVO has done their homework.
  • 1 0
The MSRP will be around $2200 USD. The Emerald uses only the highest quality components, the price is a little on the high side but the performance, tune ability, durability, and reliability will be top notch. Cheers, DVO
  • 1 0
Well I was way off! Guess I wont be trying one out.
  • 1 0
We were just in Whistler and saw the 2014 Fox 40 Air advertised for $2659 CDN at a local bike shop. We know its a bit inflated cause its Whistler but....we aren't that far off on the price considering the performance benefits. Cheers, DVO.
  • 4 3
That didn't really show the suspension at work.
  • 4 1
 Not once?
  • 2 0
Not the guys smashing at full pelt through moto whoops then straight into a take off of a double?
  • 1 1
What did you learn about the characteristics of the forks in that video?
  • 1 0
It can do bumps n stuff lawl
  • 1 0
what can you learn about any fork in any video? you can't feel how it reacts to bumps you can see it but you have no idea what the rider is feeling...
  • 1 0
When are we going to see a simple crown fork?that emerald is sik
  • 2 0
Thanks buddy! We are in the final development stages of our single crown fork and it should be produced the middle of 2014. Cheers, DVO
