"Steel is real" is my go-to when people ask how the POINT is as a bike. The great feel of a steel frame combined with a tapered head tube and spot on geometry are what make the POINT a never ending grin.
Winter in Santa Cruz is infamous in the dirt jump world. It's a harsh mix of weather in the upper 60's, patchy clouds and weekly sprinkles that tend to sit fairly well with the sandy dirt of the 831. Things like the weather aren't the reason that Santa Cruz is such a great place to ride though. There's a rockin' community of people with the dedication to build and maintain the things they want to ride. Trail respect and well earned callus are what make it the polished gold tooth that it is.
With the inevitable destruction of the Post Office jumps getting nearer and nearer, the hunt for a new Aptos bike park is under way. If you want to get your hands dirty and help out, check out the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival website.
