Kokanee Crankworx took its toll on some of the world's best riders this year and Paul Basagoitia was no exception. Paul got hurt right before the finals and has been off the bike since early August. Unfortunately he will not be able to compete at the Red Bull Rampage in a few days time. We were about to catch up with him at his home in Minden, Nevada for some recovery talk.

Back in early August at Kokanee Crankworx in Whistler, BC, Darren Berrecloth took a digger on the last step down jump. The result was two broken bones in his hand and the possibility that he may have to sit out this year’s Red Bull Rampage if his hand did not heal. Being the Claw, he’s healed up faster than doctors anticipated and is 100% ready to do battle in the desert in under a week’s time.

In 2008 he convinced any doubters about his ability to compete outside of a slopestyle course by taking the win at the Red Bull Rampage - Evolution. This year he'll be watching from the side lines due to a broken collar bone suffered at Crankworx in Whistler.

Mike Kinrade epitomizes big mountain riding in my mind. He is part of an elite level of riders that have competed at all the Red Bull Rampage events to date. His results over the years are as follows: 2001-5th, 2002-Crashed, 2003-8th, 2004-9th and in 2008-4th. This is one of the only comps that Mike ever attends and he loves it. We were able to catch up with him at his home in Nelson to talk about this year’s Rampage as he prepped his bikes for the event.

The World Champs are a chance for riders to represent their countries, so it makes sense that 9 time Irish Champ Ben Reid is one of the chosen few. Tippie and Katie Holden pin down Ben to ask him about his bone stimulator, who he thinks is "shit hot", and how he is going to translate his quick qualifying times into podium placings.

Caroline Buchanan is the current 4X World Champion and tonight is her chance to defend her rainbow stripes against the best in the world for the 2010 World Championships Title. She is currently training and focused on BMX and the 2012 Olympics in London, but has been given the go ahead to show the rest of the world just how fast she is.

Brett Tippie and Rob Warner catch up for some colorful commentary at the UCI World Championships here at Mont Saint Anne, Quebec.

In 1996 Rob Warner became the first ever British rider to win a round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup taking a historic win at Kaprun in Austria. He also became the UK National Champion in 1997, 1998 and finally in 2001. Nowadays we find him online doing commentary for all the World Cup Downhill events.

Brett Tippie and Greg Herbold sit down for some catch up and a little history lesson. Greg "H-Ball" Herbold was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1996.

Herbold, or HB, won the first UCI World Downhill Championship in Durango, Colorado in 1990. He won the NORBA National Downhill Championship in 1988, 1989, and 1993, and the North American Downhill Championship in 1991. He won the first dual slalom race at Mammoth Mountain in 1987.
