Join Rob Warner as he island-hops his way across the West Coast of Scotland!

On an adventure last summer, Rob's good mate, Alex, bored him to death with talk about his kelp farm off the Island of Skye on the West (not East) Coast of Scotland. So much so that Rob just had to come over and visit. That, combined with the fact that Rob could satisfy a bit of his guilty pleasure, Palm Trees.

It was a tough three-day adventure that saw them using many modes of transport, countless miles cycled on their Trance X Advanced E+ and Reign E+ E-MTBs, and even a hike-a-bike section, but what kept Rob going was the thought of a pint of cold beer and a big plate of fish and chips at the end of the line.

Did he complete this challenge? Did he get his beer? Did the Scottish weather hold out for him?

Rob has mastered the art of being insufferable and lovable at the same time. Always a treat to watch his misadventures.

You can drive 10 hours at 70mph on a single road from Colorado to Missouri and it will look exactly the same the entire way.

It’s so cool to me how on the other side of the world, you don’t have to travel very far to get to drastically different places. We have a bit of that in the states too, but it just seems different. I’ve also never been outside of North America lol.

Hey, you guys in North America have without doubt, some of the most beautiful places in the world to see. A whole world in one country…

@GumptionZA: America is fantastic. I’ve ridden in some ace places, Washington, Pacific North West, California, New York State, even around New Orleans and I still haven’t scratched the surface. One of the best bits of mtbing is travelling but every country has amazing things to see.

Two years ago I moved from Southern Maryland to Phoenix Arizona. When I drove across the US my favorite part was seeing the landscape changing. I started out in dense green woods, then in the Appalachian Mountains, across the Plains States (very boring) of Texas and NM. Then it started changing into the Southwestern red rock mesas in New Mexico, into the mountains of Northeastern AZ, and finally into the desert of Phoenix. It was an amazing experience and I recommend it to everyone.

Really want to do some exploring in Scotland, these routes that have presumably existed for 100’s of years look amazing.

We had a trip planned to Skye and the outer Hebrides in October but sadly we had to re-route due to a hurricane that came through the area. Definitely be back!
