I Love my DHX 5.0! Before i had it i used a DHX 3.0 and yeh theres not too much difference between the two but a substantial amount to make it worth buying. If your planning on buying one, get a Ti spring too as it works superbly with one! Funkmeister-J recommends it!

What else can be said about this shock? Do you want to experiment with other brands or do you want to just get a fox and know your shit will work forever? Ok, not forever, but a damn long time and with proper maintenance, even longer!

The best shock in market for DH/Freeride bikes, Plain. All the regulations, the progressive, and not bottoming-out of this shock are amazing having in count it will, on the correct bike, find the trail to turn, jump, get speed and land better.

Fox shox has been at the top of the DH racing line for years. I've never ridden a shock with more plush feeling travel yet still enough ramp up at the end of the travel to prevent bottom out on even some of the harshest drops out there.

This is a worthy upgrade if your frame comes with a vanilla r or something like it. The dhx is a durable easy to adjust allround shock. Becomes really small bump sensitive when properly ridden in. Will give you long lasting and worry free riding.

Its the only DH shock I have ever run, so I cant compare it to anything else, but i can say that i have run the DHX coils on my DH bikes since 2005, and I have never had an issue, I have had issue with other products, but the DHX just keeps working, and stays buttery smooth. I guess thats why its considered to be the benchmark DH shock.

i like them. simple, rebuildable in your bathroom, look really cool, and they are from my home town so that is cool. i never use the propedal but it does work to eliminate bob. if you downhill with the propedal on you ride higher in the bikes travel which is a kinda useful feature if its a course with ground clearance issues.

look, everyone loves the DHX. it's plush, rarely bottoms out, low maintenance, and not overly expensive. I'm guessing the people that are reading the recommendations for this are considering buying one so let me give you some advice.
JUST DO IT.
you seriously will not regret it and will probably never buy a different shock again.
words can't explain my love for this baby.

great shock, needs rebuilt more often than others .pro pedal is ok on ascents where your just trying to get to a descent, but must be off for this, slows shock speed despite other settings.
but has a great feel when set up right
very capable

I have run a few of these shox and they are great. I have had very good luck with my 5.0 and even went back to one after switching to the newer RC4. The adjustability of this shock just makes sense and is easy to get dialed in. BombProof

I blew up the vanilla RC on my first hard ride. Bought the DHX 5.0 and never looked back. This shock has excellent adjustability and feels very comfortable and plush. I have taken 5' drops to flat and 10' drops to downhill with no issues. I don't have anything bad to say about it and I have ridden with it all season.

Good shock that keeps me going fast! Then with an added Ti spring it's pretty light to boot! I'm sure shocks with more adjustability can work better but unless you know what you are doing you can royally screw up your ride. .. the FOX DHX coil is dialed!

Fanastic shock. Plenty of adjustability and works flawlessly. There's a reason there are so many out there - they're just so good! I'm running a ti spring with it, and it feels amazing. The best shock I've ridden for money.

the DHX 3.0 is really good too, just as strong, not as adjustable! you just can't seem to go wrong in buying Fox, everything is TOP NOTCH PERFORMANCE, and will work as good as new for years.

It's a nice looking shifter and shifts 'ok' however it still isn't as crisp as the XT's I used too run. I've had the X-0's in for adjustment at least three times and and cables replaced and still lacks the quick shifting of my Shimano XT shifters. I'd have to say that I'm going back to Shimano, maybe it's just my experience because seems like everybody here loves the XO.

Buy the Ti spring! Put it on anything that has the ability to run this shock. In the near future I will have it on everything from a 6" DJ bike to my Intense 951. My only gripe...it doesn't come in enough lengths.

Fantastic Shock Overall! I used it on an 2004 Norco Shore. After very little tuneing the bike felt plush yet bottomless. The propedal is impressive and the bottom out adjustment makes it my favorite shock.

10/10 !
