people, especially younger people want a cool looking bike, that usually means a fat tubing fat tire lower end mtb, older models had that forward race geometry, a lot of those bikes are now commuters. I see a lot these in my city, especially on old school mtbs.

Almost bought the aluminum one last week at Rock City in BC, they told me this was coming to which I kept saying isn’t that an Optic? I still favour the aluminum version, a 27.5 option in smaller sizes would be cool, or a mixed wheel version

First Ride: SRAM's New GX Transmission
I can understand not wanting it but I don’t understand the negativity towards this absolutely stunning rendition of electronica, it’s aesthetically pleasing, relatively streamlined, if the reviews are to be believed, very precise. I don’t see the battery being an issue, they last a while, I keep a rotation of gadgets charging, what’s one more?
