Things are shaping up for this weekend's first ever Jumpship Dirt Jump Invitational in beautiful downtown Victoria, BC. The world's elite slope riders will ride a floating course built upon a 180 foot barge. Tomorrow our barge moves into place for construction of the course and we'll keep you in the loop as it comes together. Get to Victoria this weekend to witness the FMB elite go head to head. Jumpship is a free event and brought to you by the Dockside Mountain Bike Society.

Yeah well FMB staff thas theyre best to make contests all over the world but riders don't move very much so... it's a bit sad. European riders and American/Canadian don't ride very much together Props to all the riders that travels to all over the worlds to ride internationals contest !!
The events should be sorted out so the smaller ones are part of a smaller series (like one for europe ,one for north america etc.) and the big ones (rampage crankworks etc (basically gold events or higher)) should be the international series. That way the riders can be rated for there region/continent and more fairly rated interrnationally (less events in the international series means riders are more likely to go to all or most events meaning they are ranked on how many events they win/do well at rather then what is kinda happening at the moment where riders are doing well because of the amount of events they turn up to.)
this is the first year we've put the comp on... its really still in its infancy. Next year, it'll be more recognized, and we'll get more big names. for now the lineup's pretty good, and we can showcase more 'local' talent.
good point hgardner but this sport has got very little money in it compared to other sports and the riders who aren't with the big flashy sponsors and teams may have to pay all their expenses so the smaller riders who have got unbelievable skills may not think it's worth spending all that money to travel to the other side of the world for a few competitions that they might not get any prize money in. But to be honest I don't see why car companies, banks, mobile phone network providers and tobacco companies don't sponsor MTB. That would bring the cash in.
Paddy-cakes part of the reason of sepperating it into series is so if there are smaller riders who have got unbelievable skills but have to pay there expeness then they can only do the european series if they choose. That way they don't have to pay a load to get to the ammerican comps and through wining or doing well at the european series they could get a bigger sponsor then they can do the international series the following season. See where i'm coming from?
why would i read it and weep? i never said he wasnt going to i just said dont count on him blowing by everybody because hes gonna have some competition. and he did
can anyone confirm this?
