Pretty interesting concept, I'd really be interested to see how it rides. What really messed with my brain was the sentence "...the rearward force during braking acts to compress the fork..." because I initially thought it meant the force between caliper and disk, not the one caused by slowing down the mass of the rider and bike.

Bought them for my trekking bike a year ago for 120€/set as a replacement for the SLX brakes and couldn't be happier. The SLX had a horribly inconsistent bite point even after bleeding them carefully multiple times, the 420s are perfect in comparison. They also stop well (even down an alpine descent with a fully loaded bike there were no issues) and have cheap replacement parts should something break. For use on the MTB I still prefer my Formula Curas (better lever and modulation), but that should be expected looking at the big price difference...

It is possible, just search for "Intend Rocksteady Magic cranks" (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links here...). Basically they added a freewheel to the crank and blocked the rear hubs freewheel by zip-tying the cassette to the hub. Therefore the chain is always moving when the bike is moving and you can shift whenever you want. Doesn't work automatically though.

@enki: Had the same thing happen to me just a few weeks ago with my rear wheel (EX1501, so also a 240s hub). I wanted to renew the rim and spokes and service the hub together with a friend wo has the proper tool for removing the ring gear. Since we already removed the rim and spokes he bolted on an old brake disc and clamped it in a vice. The ring was so seized up that even the big torque wrench (which we used out of curiosity) clicked at maximum torque (250 Nm). The ring became loose eventually, but we twisted the whole hub body by mutliple degrees in the process... On the plus side: I called DT Swiss and even though the wheel was over 5 years old and I'm not the first owner (bought it as "used like new" from someone who took it out of a brand new bike) they offered to replace the hub body on a goodwill basis and rebuild my wheel if I pay for the other parts (rim, spokes, bearings). In the end I got an almost new wheel (they only reused the axle) for a really fair price, far lower than the standard retail price.

That would be a "Mismatch 2.2" by Problem Solvers, it connects Matchmaker to I-Spec II shifters (or EV, however the new one is called. They're compatible/basically the same from what I've seen). Great product, used it for about a year before switching to Formula brakes.

I can hardly believe that. Not that they failed, that is entirely possible. But the Formula Service I've known for the last 2 years was top notch, they wouldn't pull something like this. Did you complain directly to them or to a reseller?
