So why do we still have st angles copied from road racing bikes? Wouldn't ht xc bike with 2 or 3 degrees stepper st be a better climber?

AMS Announces 'Crank Defenders' Crank Boots
@emptybox: Not with carbon, but with aramid (kevlar) or/and titanium mesh. Cost of added material would be marginal considerig the price of the carbon cranks. Production would be a little bit more expensive, though.

Review: Ion K-Pact Knee Pads
I was undecided between k-pact and k-lite and went with the lighter version. More than enough even for bike park days. Definitely would recommend the lighter version if you can have only one pair of knee pads.
