Yes Dh does still Need Sam Hill. For many of us in our 30s, and 40,s who still follow the sport hes a legend who rides flats, and has won every title there is to win. We love him and his riding style. Look at the support Greg Minnaar is still getting from the fans. Yes we mere mortals make granpa jokes but it will be a big loss when these and other legends hang up the boots from world level pro racing. many of the younger dudes racing today make references often when interviewed to how inspiring Greg, Sam and many others have been to them.

THIS DH race needed him, or at least felt special having him. But in general, DH could always use him.

Even if he doesn’t win, it’s so damn good to watch him ride.

Fully agree. I will readily admit that i basically got a love for riding down hills and across mountains because of Sam and others who raced DH when he was and some his generation still are. His riding style just makes me want me go out and ride, simple as that. Flat pedals not only win medals they are just fun to get loose with.

In classic crankworx style only the bottom quarter of the track is filmed.

Yeah, they have like only one interesting place on this track - the rockgarden - and they choose not to film it. It;s almost as boring as watching the EWS Smile

in classic crankworks style, the race and coverage is dull and mediocore. only the bottom quarter of the webcast features riders that you have ever heard of previously. laughable to hear people keep saying crankworks is going to the new redbull replacement for world cups.

I want to watch and show interest in the event, but as has already been said, coverage is poor.

@excavator666: but how else would I have learned of the autódromo near Santiago? It's less obscure than Ikubica's remarks on Rockshox rebound damping, but also plays a vital role in globalized subculture

@ceecee: Hi, thanks for noticing. RS rebound damping is a very vital subject, I remember reading some bike reviews recently with a very common pattern - bike rode like sh*t, but I backed up rebound a lot and it was much better Wink

Have been glued to World Cup coverage this year, and was pumped to see a home race in Australia.

But no, that was the worst coverage I’ve seen for years. No cams for first 3 minutes only to cover the section where riders pedal on Dh bikes..

Such a wasted opportunity to showcase what is a great track

So bummed Sam's not in it now. Heal up - DH needs you Sam.
  • 12 13
Does DH need him? I think DH is the most competitive it’s ever been.

@ABABAB: I got your back. Sam did his part for DH and then some. but the torch is in good hands now

It's really hard to watch a race where as soon as they leave the starting gate they are somehow 10 seconds up or 90 seconds back. I didn't actually know there was a rock garden until half way through.

 Interesting camera angle choices…

Seems the "replay" is 2/3 blah blah and 1/3 racing -checked out after 15 minutes..................

You did better than me, I managed about 2 runs.

I thought there was a rock garden on the track?

The director decided we couldn't handle the excitement.

 Great race, terrible commentary...

Cam is a legendary rider, but holy smokes his commentary is soooo terrible. Contradicting himself multiple times within the span of 20 seconds, all just to keep talking and filling the painful silence of a terribly broadcast race with zero cameras between the start gate and 3min down the track. Snoooooze. Crankworx should just drop the DH portion and focus on what they do best. Judging by how many riders were on enduro bikes and how pedal-y this track was, it's an enduro track at best.
