 First Gracia, now Reynolds! Why do the worst injuries happen to the raddest riders!?

 hart is nursing a shoulder injury too.. manon carpenter is still not racing and to be frank this all sucks!!!!

 It's a real shame for it to happen to him anyway. Such a sick rider and got potential for big things.

 Those superpros never really seem to care about wearing some protection here and there...especially for vertebreas end neck!

 On that subject I've noticed a big drop on DH riders especially not wearing neck braces. I use one, they aren't that intruding and you get used to wearing it. If I was them I would be wearing one.

 And Chubey is injured too... Hope everyone great healing vibes!

 i completely agree with glenrockify. i don't wear one just cause i only ride bike park a couple times a year and can't afford one. I've tried them on though and when fitted properly you wouldn't even know there're there. i makes no sense whatsoever that the pros don't wear them, at the speeds they are going its shocking they don't.

 It always sucks when a fellow rider goes down but there's no need to jump on the pros-should-wear-every-kind-of-protection bandwagon. They're the most safe when they're riding confidently and that's their choice. Maybe he will after he recovers but if he doesn't, then well you guys just have to trust the professional riders' risk management skills. After all they wouldn't be where they are today if they didn't know how to preform at their best while minimizing the chances of injury. Every rider is different so what doesn't bother you 360ing a double or cruising through a bike park, might bother someone doing a 360 whip or racing at WC speed. Yes everyone does fall but it doesn't help anything by being Captain Hindsight or Mr. I-told-ya-so, especially if you don't know what its like riding at the level that the professional guys do. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that its silly to speculate why certain professional riders don't wear the same protective gear as other riders and if it bothers you that much, you can always ask them yourself while wishing them a speedy and full recovery. Get better Sam!

Essentially his front brake failed and the only place he had to go was into a rock garden... Some pretty serious stuff

 Gracia is having a super fast recovery apparently! The doctor said it was sort of un-human speed for such a recovery...but we pinkbikers&Co. already new the un-human part, didn't we?

 Well, foreigners don't get free medical in any country that we know of.. dude, in the US, even if you are a citizen you get asked for it.. that said, the organizers should have had some kind of insurance, etc.. strange !

 I dunno my buddy went up to Canada some years back entered a break dancing comp and apparently someone had shattered a bottle on stage and they didn't get it all cleaned up and cut the shit out of his hands...he didn't have to pay anything. Things may have changed though.

 A Canadian hospital asked for my bike as collateral along with having to call my parents for a credit before they would give me my ID back. I still owe them thousands of dollars.

 just remember boys. if youre going to crash do it properly.... nhs will fix you for free bikes cost money to replace!!!!

 Canadian healthcare

 You'll be asked for your card in any foreign country. If you don't pay taxes to support it then you don't get the healthcare for "free". I am glad I'm not in the states though, Canadian healthcare is a nice thing to have access to.

 Canadian healthcare is rubbish at getting money from foreigners, unless you are in a super touristy place. One more here or there won't break us

 I'm pretty sure it says that the resort administration demanded his credit card (for costs incurred at the event such as lodging and food) NOT for medical costs. It's not the clearest statement, but that's how I interpreted it.

 intrepidbiped I think they meant the hospital asked for his credit card details. I think the message is to get insurance when travelling to a foreign country for any extreme sports activity. If you have a bad injury & need to get airlifted it's gonna cost thousands whereas most insurance poilicies are around £20 ($30 USD).
Every British person moans about our National Health Service but it is free (albeit paid for by our taxes) and medical emergencies are dealt with immediatly for British or Foreigeners for FREE!

 NZ has ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) so, if your injury is caused by an accident you get free medical care. Woo Hoo for NZ!!

 Well it really depends... Darren Berrecloth was able to get back after a serious injury like that... you need to keep your hopes up and never give up.
