Congratulations RockShox, your new Vivid market is 20 people.
  • + 11
this is the response they want....they want everyone to make a big deal of it and of how awesome it must be (not saying it isn't)
im sure they will release it eventually...
  • + 7
Big Grin ... after more than 3 mins watching i finally understood what you mean.... Lol.
  • + 13
Sooner or later they will sell it to the public. i'll stick to my fox rc4
  • + 1
The vivid is an amazing feeling shock but i've snapped one so I wouldn't spend more getting this one when it finally goes on sale to the public
  • + 7
 Guess Norbs got robbed again...
  • + 1
and yet "this shock is so advanced that many riders will never be able to reap the true benefits of its capabilities". Come on RockShox
  • + 53
 Go home rockshox, you're drunk.
  • + 34
Congratulations Rockshox on the worst idea/marketing campaign ever
i will stick to my cane creek thank you !
  • + 11
Its ok guys, don't stress. There is still every chance that it be as sub par as the rest of their rear shocks that they have ever produced and continue with their non-fuctional-after-shitting-itself heritage. Fox make an awesome shock. CC make an awesome shock. BOS make an awesome'er shock. All are readily available and all are substantially better than anything RS have ever come out with. Just have a sandwich and remember what you all already know, and not let some muppet telling us all that we are average riders. Fuck him. Better yet, ignore it, and continue having fun on your sleds, despite what shock your running.

It might sound like a good marketing idea, BUT in reality it alienates potential customers. The high end parts market lives from people who might lack pro skills but like to buy pro stuff just because they can. Now if you offend those customers first by shoving their non-pro level into their faces, they go elsewhere. There are several choices of comparable or even superior products out there with more to come (DVO, CCDB, BOS) which makes this marketing stunt a shot in Rock Shox's own foot...
  • + 12
So there basically saying 97% of us suck at biking.
  • + 8
 yes, thats true
  • + 11
dont worry fox will come out with a better shock, and they'll sell to everyone!
  • + 11
 douchebags
  • + 8
Not a fan of this way of thinking at all. Not all great riders are pros. Just cause you're hung like a horse doesn't mean you have to do porn.
  • + 6
Since when has telling people they're not good enough to use your shit been a good marketing strategy? Nice going rock shox.. I doubt that I was ever going to buy any of your stuff anyways, but now I'll avoid it on purpose.
  • + 4
i dont give a sh*t about how much neg props or what can happen but let's face it WHY THE F*CK DO YOU ANNOUNCE SOMETHING WE CANT BUY? RockShox i'm sorry but i have a f*ck you to your selfish attitude and thinking only but the f*cking money. thx all of you for reading this post.

P.S.-sorry for the caps lock writing but this is to f*cking other worldly stupid attitude from rockshox.
  • + 4
Rock shox is going to have so much less bussiness now that they make there best product only to uci riders witch is all of 20 people. Congradluations rock shox u just about lost half your business. Hey every body lets switch to fox.
  • + 4
Rock shox stupidest marketing move ever... Make it, tell every one about it, then tell them they can't have it. They might have thought they were making it more desirable but for me it just makes me want to take my business to someone a little less cocky. Maybe thats why I have always had better luck with other companies shocks. I am not one of the top 3% of riders that can ride rock shox properly... seems pretty cocky for a company that cant even spell "shock".
  • + 4
I would laugh so much that if all that they found out was that it keep braking, Smile good marketing though for the vivid get everyone wanting to be pro and get one but its a shame that most of the pros on the world cup didnt like using the vivid air.
  • + 5
fucking stupid. let all the idiots scream GIMME GIMME GIMME, then sell it at a premium. everyone wants what they can't have. well played rock shox, but you know, you can market stuff to people without being a gaping asshole.
  • + 7
excitement levels growing! (then, reaching 3.27), excitement level just hit the floor.........................
  • + 3
I think, this marketing idea has it's positiv and negativ sites.

The positive site is probably, that only the best riders have access to this shock which allows to seperate the guys from the rest. In this case, skill is recommended and the near-pro-riders even have more motivation. Now you won't see a fat kid with rich parents and no skills riding that shock who overwrites skill by tech.

The negative site is mostly that people can't buy the thing they prefer. When i have 4 Billion dollars, why should i not buy the best thing? I know that i really dont have the skills which need a shock like this, but if i will buy it, i will do this even if i know this. It's like a car. A Millionairs son has enough money to buy a porsche as his first car. Makes no sense, but if he wan't, why shouldn't he?
  • + 7
That's sweet. My name defiantly not on that list.
  • + 3
www.ridefox.com/product.php?m=bike&t=shocks&p=99301&ref=filter Sorry but these fox peoples product and shit are both strait, and they figured out that being an a*shole to 97% of riders isn't going to make them money. Thus, I don't buy your stuff
  • + 3
This idiot's elitist idea is going to seriously mar RockShox's name. Safe to say, I'll be avoiding their products in the future, because clearly I'm not qualified to give them my money.
  • + 2
The amount of butthurt in these comments is astounding, RockShox is only saying that the regular, everyday rider will not be able to reap the full benefits of the new system in the shock and some of you guys are acting like you're incredibly offended at the idea that you are not a podium level rider on the world circuit when the majority of us all ride purely for pleasure and so logically don't expect to be seen anywhere near that standard. They're not saying the rider wont be able to feel any sort of difference in performance, they just say that the rider likely will not be able to utilise its full potential much in the same way most people wont be able to tune a CCDB to perfection and also use it to its limit, and it is likely true that 97% of the worlds riders wont be able to actually use the added benefits of the shocks performance even if they can still feel it while riding a bike with this new shock. IMO the idea of having only UCI registered pro riders initially being able to buy this shock is good in the way that it promotes people to either prove RockShox wrong and get to be a pro on another platform or aspire to purchase the shock and either way its increasing the size of the pro level field and so promoting growth in the sport and tougher competition which can only be a good thing as far as I can see
  • + 2
SRAM just blew there sales. are you out of your mind dudes? most of the downhill and freeride market is gonna want one of these shocks. and now your only selling it to pro's. and its not even B-labs. its just a new model. really disappointed in this
  • + 2
stupid shit do they not want to make money. they should tell everyone that it is so good that only 'pros' should ride it. then when everyone is dying to have it because all the pros have it they just sell to everyone and make a killing.
  • + 4
this is why i don't like rock shock and i wont by they're stuff ever again !!! Fox ftw
  • + 5
 Not sure if serious... :-|
  • + 1
It's clear, you are not a pro, you are not looking forward to serious results, so you don't need that. Pros are looking for a thing that will decrease their times on a world cup race by 0.001/+ from the others, so that will probably help them with that. Haters gonna hate. My opinion.
  • + 1
ive got the old vivid and totoem 09. fuck this i ve got cash in hand and they wont sell it to me now. wtf. i thought it was all about markerting and selling product. was a rock shock believer till i saw this. goin to try something else. probably fox!!!!!
  • + 1
you do know you can buy it right? www.sram.com/rockshox/products/vivid-air-r2c
  • + 3
Sounds good but I'm not "Pro" enough to be able to tell the difference. Guess who isn't getting rid of the fox rear shock now
  • + 1
It's like the popular kid in the playground who won't give his sweets to anyone unless they are cool enough. when another popular kid comes (probably fox) and gives people some equally good sweets, I'm sure the popular kid will be all too happy to give his sweets away to get his old "friends" to come crawling back.
  • + 5
 Nothinhg beats my CCDB...
  • + 5

  • + 2
Thank's for haveing me drool at every slo-mo for 4 mins and then telling me at the end I will never get one. Is this supposed to be an ad?
  • + 2
sooo... they took the time to develop the whole shock, market it and make the video explaning the whole process and now what. NO ONE CAN BUY IT?????!!!!!!!
  • + 3
if you are pro and are allowed this shock why would you buy it... youre pro... dont waste my time rock shocks
  • + 2
Holy flex-city. Look at the slow-motion shot from :47-:58 I can literally see the stanchions bending.
  • + 2
what a bellend, congratulations on promoting all other shock manufacturers and denting your companies reputation.
  • + 2

  • + 1
I'm sure it's great, but I feel like they just came up with fancy names for a negative spring and rebound...
  • + 2
 I will buy a DSP anyway. =D
  • + 1
Makeup and metal? Sounds like someone's a Kiss fan... the least metal metal band there is.
  • + 2
never metal. we call that buttrock sorry thought u ment metal
  • + 1
That is so poor. Why would you cut your market by 97 percent?
  • + 1
this lacks the skill to ride the vived
  • - 2
you have to acknowledge as well though, that it wouldn't be financially beneficial for RockShox to market these to everyone straight away, if not many people are likely to buy them
  • + 1
Rock Shok will became rich with the 3 percent of de buyers!
  • + 2
 It's a joke.....
  • + 2
Remember, 97% of riders can't tell they're being trolled...
  • + 1
Rapid Recovery System = faster rebound
  • + 2
 what about Matt Miles?
  • + 1
Hey look - RockShox is taking marketing lessons from Kanye West. FAIL.
  • + 0
Irrelevant. I have a ccdb. Obvious pr stunt rs.
