Congratulations RockShox, your new Vivid market is 20 people.

this is the response they want....they want everyone to make a big deal of it and of how awesome it must be (not saying it isn't)
im sure they will release it eventually...

The vivid is an amazing feeling shock but i've snapped one so I wouldn't spend more getting this one when it finally goes on sale to the public

Its ok guys, don't stress. There is still every chance that it be as sub par as the rest of their rear shocks that they have ever produced and continue with their non-fuctional-after-shitting-itself heritage. Fox make an awesome shock. CC make an awesome shock. BOS make an awesome'er shock. All are readily available and all are substantially better than anything RS have ever come out with. Just have a sandwich and remember what you all already know, and not let some muppet telling us all that we are average riders. Fuck him. Better yet, ignore it, and continue having fun on your sleds, despite what shock your running.

It might sound like a good marketing idea, BUT in reality it alienates potential customers. The high end parts market lives from people who might lack pro skills but like to buy pro stuff just because they can. Now if you offend those customers first by shoving their non-pro level into their faces, they go elsewhere. There are several choices of comparable or even superior products out there with more to come (DVO, CCDB, BOS) which makes this marketing stunt a shot in Rock Shox's own foot...

i dont give a sh*t about how much neg props or what can happen but let's face it WHY THE F*CK DO YOU ANNOUNCE SOMETHING WE CANT BUY? RockShox i'm sorry but i have a f*ck you to your selfish attitude and thinking only but the f*cking money. thx all of you for reading this post.
P.S.-sorry for the caps lock writing but this is to f*cking other worldly stupid attitude from rockshox.

Rock shox stupidest marketing move ever... Make it, tell every one about it, then tell them they can't have it. They might have thought they were making it more desirable but for me it just makes me want to take my business to someone a little less cocky. Maybe thats why I have always had better luck with other companies shocks. I am not one of the top 3% of riders that can ride rock shox properly... seems pretty cocky for a company that cant even spell "shock".

I think, this marketing idea has it's positiv and negativ sites.
The positive site is probably, that only the best riders have access to this shock which allows to seperate the guys from the rest. In this case, skill is recommended and the near-pro-riders even have more motivation. Now you won't see a fat kid with rich parents and no skills riding that shock who overwrites skill by tech.
The negative site is mostly that people can't buy the thing they prefer. When i have 4 Billion dollars, why should i not buy the best thing? I know that i really dont have the skills which need a shock like this, but if i will buy it, i will do this even if i know this. It's like a car. A Millionairs son has enough money to buy a porsche as his first car. Makes no sense, but if he wan't, why shouldn't he?

www.ridefox.com/product.php?m=bike&t=shocks&p=99301&ref=filter Sorry but these fox peoples product and shit are both strait, and they figured out that being an a*shole to 97% of riders isn't going to make them money. Thus, I don't buy your stuff

The amount of butthurt in these comments is astounding, RockShox is only saying that the regular, everyday rider will not be able to reap the full benefits of the new system in the shock and some of you guys are acting like you're incredibly offended at the idea that you are not a podium level rider on the world circuit when the majority of us all ride purely for pleasure and so logically don't expect to be seen anywhere near that standard. They're not saying the rider wont be able to feel any sort of difference in performance, they just say that the rider likely will not be able to utilise its full potential much in the same way most people wont be able to tune a CCDB to perfection and also use it to its limit, and it is likely true that 97% of the worlds riders wont be able to actually use the added benefits of the shocks performance even if they can still feel it while riding a bike with this new shock. IMO the idea of having only UCI registered pro riders initially being able to buy this shock is good in the way that it promotes people to either prove RockShox wrong and get to be a pro on another platform or aspire to purchase the shock and either way its increasing the size of the pro level field and so promoting growth in the sport and tougher competition which can only be a good thing as far as I can see

It's like the popular kid in the playground who won't give his sweets to anyone unless they are cool enough. when another popular kid comes (probably fox) and gives people some equally good sweets, I'm sure the popular kid will be all too happy to give his sweets away to get his old "friends" to come crawling back.
