Yeah, I'm fine. I rag dolled it and was really lucky. The jump owned me. I was going way too fast and didn't pre-load and thus dead sailored it. My rebound was fine. I was nailing every other jump on the mountain, but didn't follow anyone in. Should've for my first time. Live 'n learn.

Contact me asap. I have a few shows that would be interested in using your video. Check your inbox.
Thanks,
Jason

Dude you are lucky. I did the same on a much smaller jump ( a really small and embarassing one tbh) and landed on my face which cost me 6 days of riding and forced me to chase my shoe.

Glad you're ok, and just wanted to pass along some more advice. To cure the "dead sailor", and I don't mean this to offend, throw in some style. There's a reason you see folks whipping it out and getting nasty, it's because it's how you can control the bike in the air, instead of the other way around.

Maaann!! Good to know you're okay!!! This is why last season I aborted hitting the crabapple's.... And this year, I was doing pretty comfortable that new big jump at A-Line, but twice in a row, I almost did the same as you! After that I considered forget about once again... I've only done 'till the second jump. Actually I was pretty far form setting the pace for going ahead :/..... We'll see next season!!! Hope you get well soon!!! Cheers!!! .o/

How can someone survive such crash without broken bones? My collarbone hurts just from viewing hah. Epic!

Glad to hear your all good man. Question though, where'd you have the camera mounted? Great angle and showed the speed really well

I did literally the exact opposite of you (waaaay too far over the back). Maybe we should combine our riding talents, average out somewhere in the middle and actually send these things successfully?

That's just brutal. You are one lucky dude, you could injure your spine or neck at that speed and impact. Glad you are ok. Cheers

You should definitely set you rebound FASTER and next time it will be smooth frontflip ) Glad you ok

Glad you're okay and respect the fact that you owned up to the mistakes you made (which can happen to anyone), but these are mistakes that can unfortunately end a riding career or cause a bike park to make drastic changes to their features. It was clear that you should not have gone for that 4th jump after you completely flubbed the 3rd. People watching this, please follow/watch other riders when hitting large features like crabapple, and for god's sake, do not commit to a feature when things have nearly gone awry just seconds before.

Hayden,
Thanks for being polite. You are correct in that I should have followed someone in and should've stopped after the 3rd hit, but I had studied them, walked them and felt pretty good about jumping at that time. The wind gusts were my main concern. I'm not sure why I let it take me like that considering I was whipping/tabling most of the jumps that day?
Mattpatt,
That's funny because my buddy and I said that exact thing before I hit them. "I've got to do a whip or table it or something so that it doesn't own me!" I really understand this and do this in most of my jumping.
Rest of the pack,
Thanks for the support and funny posts. As far as the rest of the clip.....I didn't need to post 20 minutes of me waking up, babbling and then riding down the hill in a mule. :-) I ended up smashing the spine protector and neck protecting part of my Leatt Carbon Pro, thank God I was wearing it, and scratched up my D3 pretty good on the back. As Kevin Walsh (owner of Evil Bikes) said, "Lucky you were riding the Undead!" I take some risks while riding, but I fully agree with Hayden in that, when attempting something that intense one should follow or study others that have done the feature before.......lucky for me, I can learn from my mistake. I'll be hitting them next summer with style!

GREAT advice. I was riding dirt on my 20" when I overshot a hip. I continued towards the next double and halfway over it figured out I wasn't going to make it. I tried to bail but actually caught my feet on the bars. Went straight to my shoulder/face separating my AC joint and braking my nose.
Dude you should've bailed as soon as you had that bad feeling. The worst thing you can do is hold on. Land feet and knees together (AIRBORNE!!) and most of the time you'll be able to roll away. Check out videos of how paratroopers are taught to land. Balls of the feet, knees, thighs, butt, pull up muscle.

As far as off's go thats awesome!
I just (literally an hour ago) did the same but alot slower!
rolling over a crest down a stupidly steep hill, smoothly pinching the brakes. Front wheel found a rutt, forks dug in and over the top I go! Pretty much in slow mo, Tried to control it but mid roll the forks pinged back out and threw me out nd down the hill!
50ft or so of rolling (sans bike) downhill the bike narrowly missed me!
nowt as impressive as yours bt mustve looked epic from a side view!

Hey dominator13, good to know you wear all that protection. I always wear all that too but have you more expensive stuff. D3 and carbon leatt is expensive but i believe now that its worth it and now you live to ride again. I only have THE point 5 and leatt ride dbx 4 i hope it works. I was wondering what spine protector are you wearing?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I assume the neck brace certainly helped in this situation, what make/model are you using and is it working well for you? I suppose your the guy to ask, as you've got good experience testing it here. Hope you wern't too badly bruised up after.

I was wearing the Leatt DBX Pro Carbon and the TLD D3 helmet. The two combined are the most comfortable and allow for the most movement and protection. Supposedly, the new 5.5 by Leatt is supposed to be a great fit and several other helmet companies are following with the tapered back of the helmet to accommodate the neck braces.
Yes. I have had several instances wear I feel that the neck brace has saved my life and or kept me moving from the neck down.
They really should be worn all the time because of the severity of the neck injury. It, however, is nearly impossible because you'd have to be wearing a FF helmet for it to work. 90% of the riding most of us do includes pedaling up hill and to lug a FF and the brace around doesn't seem logical till you need it.
I try to wear one whenever I am attempting anything other than the typical "middle of the trail jump".
