When we made From Where We Stand, we set out to accomplish a few things. We wanted to showcase beauty in unexpected places. We wanted to give a voice to the people who have made it their life's mission to provide riders with a trail experience that is unique to their region. Above all else, we wanted to encourage people to ride their bikes and to seek out adventure in their own backyards. The world has a massive and growing list of destination and bucket list trails and it's important to explore places far from home to get a taste of what the rest of the world has to offer. But it's also important to remember that you don't always have to drive half a day or fly across to country to experience something new. From Where We Stand was never about showing off or making an "East Coast vs. West Coast" statement. It was about giving the people and communities who see mountain biking as a viable means to improve their respective regions a chance to say their piece.

Riders and trail builders from Oneonta, New York, Reading, Pennsylvania, Newark, Delaware and Vernon, New Jersey did that throughout the series in an eloquent and inspired fashion. I would encourage you to go and check it out episode by episode if you haven't already or maybe revisit the series with that in mind; because this edition is a bit different and it's just for Pinkbike. Watch as Neko and Logan Mulally, Jeff Lenosky, George Ryan, Paul Dotsenko and others get busy in this action-centric edit. Sometimes, you just want to watch some riders getting rowdy on their bikes and I don't blame you. Enjoy!

East Coast Riding is so under-rated
  • 3 2
east coast riding is the tits but the weather is always moody
  • 4 2
And the weather in the Northwest isn't? I'd say pretty much the only place where you can get predictable good riding weather is the Southwest (southern CA, NV, UT, AZ, CO). I don't think its that the East Coast has especially moody weather. I think its the norm and that the SW is the lucky exception to the rule.

wanna come ride in the UK and see what moody weather means for real? Big Grin

Yeh there was a little bit of water on the trails this morning….. oh wait that was me spraying my water bottle….

SW has it's moments. Right now we're lucky but when you guys are enjoying nice days during the summer we are hiding from the sun because it's 110 plus!
  • 1 0
 @jhoward7285, that's why there's night riding
  • 9 1
As someone from the east coast who loves the riding here i am so glad they mashed all of those videos together...i feel it gives a much better representation of the riding on the east coast than they did separately

For you Northern East Coast riders, we should plan a few weekends this spring/summer to rip up and down some of these trails that they are mentioning in this series. I'm from the Central NY area and will definitely be up for a few road trips with my local riding group. PM if you may be interested!!! Spring is right around the corner!
  • 2 1
Haha maybe, but the trails here in vt aren't dry until late june a lot of the time. Ski season!
  • 2 0
Between the 15deg below average temps constantly and now another 12inches snow here in PA feels like spring will never be here. Oh well its been a great season to snowboard.

hope y'all have been taking advantage of the lack of winter thus far! I miss my Oneonta trails, been cold an rainy out here in Cali!

Yeah @sambs827! Revisiting some rad memories!

I enjoyed the back to basics style of riding and fell of this video. Well done guys and Girls. This is what our sport and lifestyle is about.
  • 7 0
This was much better as a single video vs the episode style.
  • 3 0
Agreed. They also focused on showing great riding rather than talking about how the riding is great, which had come across badly to some viewers. Much better this time around. Well done! It makes me wish our trails weren't currently covered with old compacted dirty ice snow.

I moved to Maine from Santa Cruz about 11 winters ago (counting this one), and thought I'd be hanging up my bike. Well I did for a few years there when the kids were babies, though fast-forward to now, and we're at a critical mass. Our neighbors in Vermont have been killing it, Highland sets its own bar, in Maine Carrabasset is going off, a couple more NEMBA chapters have come online, and locally in Camden/Rockport we're looking at the burning fuse on a powder keg of goodness. We've got the terrain, growing trail network, chairlift(!!!), the open space, the relationships with land owners and managers, and a core of riders that love to dig. And we love company and visitors!!! If you're headed up, find us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/McNEMBA we'd love to meet you and show you around!!!!

Awesome stuff Kev! I'll let you know when I'm up in your neck of the woods sometime!
  • 2 0
Absolutely!!! This season will be interesting as the Camden Snow Bowl is undergoing a massive redevelopment. A lot of trails will be impacted and large swaths of the mountain, if not the entire thing, will be closed as they install a new triple chair to the top and more snowmaking equipment. Good news is we gain access to a lot more lift-serviced terrain for next year, and with a plethora of heavy equipment up on the hill and dirt being moved around we should be able to strategically set up for trail mayhem Smile I've got some photos of Dreadnought on my profile, and I think there's a couple videos of the trail somewhere here on PB. Check 'em out...downhill flow in the rocks, roots, and tight trees of Northern New England...who woulda thunk?!

A lot of these are day/weekend trips from where I live. No excuses this year. Thanks guys for putting this together!

great vid for sure and great to see trail bikes and half shells etc. funny what peeps are saying about calling this Northeast though cuz we up here in the northeast consider that south or mid atlantic at least. maybe part 2 could be south east and part 3 could be northeast proper so all regions get some love..whatever, great job on video, this is a great and realistic view of what most do on a bike. cheers

Nice to see some representation from the area where I grew up. Did a double take when Sam Brown-Shaklee cam on the screen. Went to a nerd camp at ORNL with him back in 2006...and now I feel old
  • 2 0
nerd camp indeed! shoot me a PM.
  • 9 4
Hold up, hold it! This is actually mt. Biking and not Enduro?
  • 3 0
Great way to make me miss riding under all our snow and ice. Come on spring I want to ride my bike and not freeze.

This is getting ridiculous…more snow tonight.

In spain you can ride all year, weather is awesome. I always ask myself why we don't have more pro riders.

No dorks squirting dirt in my face on every corner. Great video, thanks
  • 3 0
 hahaha you're welcome
  • 2 0
Nice! I'd love to see a specific list of trail names you guys are riding in the video, I wanna hit some of them!
  • 4 0
@jesseoverlin Shoot me a PM, I can give you a good amount of details about Oneonta, NY.
  • 5 0
The Oneonta trails featured in the video are all in Homer Folks Forest. Drive to the top of Hill Street and park at the state building. ride up the fire road and in 100 yards you'll see single track. Trails in the video include Black Coffee, Stinger, RIP, Red Maple Rip.

I wanna ride now soooo bad

f*cking Rock n Roll! Ripping Mt. Creek on short travel bikes?! Im tempted to bring my 29r there this season now... lol
  • 3 0
Mountain Creek is a blast on a 6" bike. makes the easy stuff more interesting because you can sprint and throw the bike around. Makes harder runs downright rad!
  • 4 0
@questlove967 my Tallboy LTc was such a great bike for this shoot. Wish I had a dual chamber rear shock and maybe a Pike for the front. Sus heats up quick!
  • 2 0
Rad. I used to ride Creek on a 05 Rockhopper hardtail before i could afford to rent a DHer. Ruined my wrists lol. I have a '11 Camber Pro 29 now that i might have to try there. Hopefully the big hoops and 100mm can handle the chunder! Been trying to ride up in Oneonta since i saw the first vid, but the last 3 times i was there we got a foot of snow. Going back up tomorow to 2 feet of snow most likely...

Anyone knows the name of the first song just after the fire camp?
Because it's not "Geology - On the Blue" as it's written at the end
  • 2 0
Yes...sorry the original intro featured the Geology song and we didn't change the credits accordingly. The first song in this version is Univox "How Many Times"
  • 3 0
Thanks a lot for your fast reply Smile
