 Martin Maes...the man's an animal!
  • 8 1
It's just ridiculous the way he just goes in for a DH race now and then for the fun of it - beating all the other competitors focusing 100% on it. Impressive!
  • 25 4
He is belgian and drinks belgian beer
  • 3 1
HUGE fan of Maes. He needs moar coverage PB!
  • 8 1
Thanks for that. They have improved the live timing significantly, it's actually kind of fun to watch now.
  • 1 1
The women are coming down the hill now........but only split one coming up......is the course shortened?
  • 1 0
Oops sorry my bad-lower ranked riders so taking 5-7 minutes between splits or they are all crashing.
  • 16 1
All the top 4 overall women riders finished within ONE MINUTE of each other. Amazing. A minute. That's what I call close racing!
  • 1 1
 maybe caused by crashes?
  • 9 0
Did anyone else notice Martin Maes' top speed? It is a massive difference compared to everyone else, except one French rider, who must not know how to use his brakes.
  • 3 0
Anyone know where on the course the speedtrap is? Seems Maes was quicker than all of the elite men!!!
  • 1 0
It's usually just after the bridge before the gondola hip. I would imagine same again this year.
  • 3 0
Must be all that enduro pedalling.
  • 1 0
It might also be down to track conditions at the time of these runs.
  • 9 0
Thanks, the weather up there changes quickly. Forecasts are kind of pointless as each mountain has its own weather.

ooft mike jones putting in a belter of time
  • 6 0
Just got some money on him just before betting closed, my annual bet better work out
  • 2 0
Sam Dale's first at split 1 so far.
Pretty amazing for a big guy (think I remember him saying he was 220lbs) to be faster than guys like Troy and Danny in that section. Especially in the wet.

Ratboy - DNF. Anybody know what happened?
  • 15 1
I think he didn't finish. I'm not helping much an I?
  • 3 0
Apparently he rolled out the starting gate and pulled over. More details to follow.
  • 11 0
He jumped over the timing devices on the finishing jump so his time will forever be unknown
  • 5 0
Josh with a DNF. Hope he's ok.
  • 2 0
MAybe just rolled out of the gate?
  • 5 0
he pulled over because he is a protected rider obviously hurting from his crash
  • 3 1
Or has a good weather forecast and wants to get down early?
  • 2 0
I'm pretty sure the protected DNF riders do their final run within the top30. so if he had wanted good weather, he shoulda just stopped midrun and waited. That's how Matti won Champery2007
  • 2 0
Reports are that he just rolled out of the start gate and pulled over as he his still sore from his bounce off the tree in practice.
  • 1 0
Protected or not, I'm sure he'd want the points if he was feeling able. Probably not a good sign. Maybe I shouldn't have picked him to win.

instagram.com/p/3n0fQFDZZd Rachel seems to have done something to her arm/hand.

Anyone know why greg minnar is showing as having no sponsor and as an unprotected rider?
  • 4 0
All the guys from SC syndicate are "not sponsored" because the team outfit is against uci rules
  • 1 0
Not sure why no sponsor. Unprotected because he finished outside the top 20 in Lourdes, I think he was injured.
  • 2 0
 Fuck uci
  • 2 0
Greg's team did not make their jerseys 'conforming' enough, so the UCI did not approve the Syndicate's Trade Team status. He's also not in the top 20 because of his result in the first world cup.
  • 1 0
He's not showing as sponsored because the syndicate are no longer a uci recognised team!(I dont know the details) Ratboy's the same. Not sure about the protected thing, guess its down to his bad luck last year?
  • 4 0
 Maes is on fire!!

  • 2 0
The Chainsaw on track. YESS!! 35th at split one.
  • 1 0
Stevie has gone 9th for now. See what else happens with riders to come. Eddie Masters looked to be on a stormer with a 10th fastest 1st sector.
  • 2 0
Let's go Tracey! Stomp down a win today!
  • 2 0
Go Bruni, POUR LA FRANCE !
  • 1 0
 Bruni > François Hollande
  • 1 0
This is going to be good! Brosnan was very fast in timed practice. Let see if he can shave those 6 seconds off.
  • 1 0
Can anyone explain how the protected rider thing works and why it doesn't show on Junior racers?
  • 2 0
Certain riders get protected status meaning that they make it into finals even if they do not qualify. i guess it works on a rank system from last season as ratboy won the overall so he gets to be protected this season! Dont quote me on this because it may not be fully correct
  • 2 0
I think its if you are in the top twenty for overall world cup standings (I reckon the first race is either run off last years figures, or the current world standings). Eg if you are in the top 20 then you auto qualify but you wont be in the live racing as you will be one of the first guys down the hill and only the top 30 or so are shown.

Not sure about the juniors, perhaps similar but a lower amount?
  • 1 1
This is what I assumed. I guess its a lower number for the women as there are fewer of them racing, and does not apply to juniors?
  • 2 0
i think the junior ranking is done with the elites so a junior sits in the elite rankings so they dont bother to use the highest ranking juniors for protected status. Again this may not be right
  • 2 0
Wyn Masters qualied in the top 20??!!! AWESOME!!!
  • 2 0
MIKE JONES IS ON IT!! go Mike! it's yours
  • 1 0
No Emilie Siegenthaler. I wonder what's going on there. Overall, I have to say the Women's field looks depressing weak.
  • 1 0
Can someone fill me in on why Minaar is not listed as a syndicate rider? - NVM, quick Pinkbike search sorted it.
  • 1 0
bring on the finals.....anyone know what the weather is doing up there?
  • 1 0
looks good in the photo. Times indicate its poor to terrible...
  • 1 0
shite but not too windy so the gondola shouldnt get closed
  • 1 0
Currently no rain and minimal wind. Weather should be coming in soon though!

wales for the double with manon taking the girls!
  • 1 0
MAES IS 6KPH FASTER THAN ANYBODY EVEN THE BIG GUYS ... FACT
  • 3 0
I don't think fact means what you think it means. He was 4kph faster than the top elite men, and there was another junior rider that was 2 kph faster than him, hence the (2) next to Maes' speed.
  • 1 0
why dont they have the womens live? used to
  • 1 0
I was rooting for Bruni or Jones. Didnt know they were 1-2 in qualifying!
  • 2 3

Yep, as scheduled on both Red Bull TV and redbull.com/bike.
  • 1 0
