Selected by Ian Hylands - Classic shot of Tippie redone! Tippie first did this drop back in the 90's when he was a much younger fro rider. This shot was taken last year however by Blake Jorgenson, with Tippie as a 40+ year old dude. Everything about this is epic, I just wish it was a little bigger so I could make it my desktop...
I remember this shot when it ran in BIKE magazine a truck-load of years ago, back when so-called hucking was all the rage. I stared at the picture...growing nervous inside...thinking..."Damn it. I'm probably going to have to try something like that." Some time afterwords, I talked myself into riding my then Psycle Werks Wild Hare off a maintenance shack at Mt. Norquay in Banff. 'Thought about if for a week beforehand. I recall the questionable condition of the roof, the crusty shingles, my friends all watching, and a tormented mind wondering, "What are you doing? You're up here now. 'Can't chicken out." A few last looks followed by a willful override of my instinct for self-preservation, and then, "Alright, fxck it."
I felt like I was sixty feet tall when I landed safely. No, eighty feet tall. Man, it felt good.
every time pinkbike goes down like last night i realize that my computer is worthless to me without it and i am lost in life because i have no bike to go ride amazing shot aswell
I love that it' a "40+ year old dude" for today's POD, as I join that club today. I guess I don't have to hang up the bike in lieu of a walker today after all.
Happy Birthday, ntmjeep! It ain't so bad, really. Beer...Advil...denial...impulsiveness...stupidity...hard-earned skills. There are ways. *Smile.* Keep on shredding on! Yee-doggie!
Tippie is the man. Great for the sport and a heck of a nice guy. I said hi to him at Whistler recently and he was all "Hey, what's up brother?!" We've never met but he responded to me in such a genuine and warm way, it was rad. Go Tippie!
Epic!!! ... one of those pics that inspire and make us dream on doing something similar one day... seeing this kind of pics makes me wanna go to ride exactly in this moment
i know i will get neg prop but i dont like how the camera is squint :/ i dont see why it is so epic compared to other pods apart from the reflection and remembarance it has to all you seniors about "the good oll days". sorry but thats my view from a set of 17 year old eyes.
