Following her rise to the number one spot, 2015 was always going to be the hardest year of her career. With the start of the season filled with setback after setback, it was clear a repeat was off the cards but that finding her passion for riding was key to going faster.

 @ryetoast you have no idea mate, her dad was instrumental in giving us the best races in the UK. His Dragon series in Wales, with offshoots in France ripped the shit out of the U.K. DH scene and put proper tracks on proper mountains when the rest of the U.K. Was racing on flattish hillsides. I don't think people realise how her family has shaped the scene as much as they have.

 Impossible to watch that crash at Fort Bill without wincing. What a rider though, and what a seemingly likeable person.

 In 2011 I was lucky enough to go on a BMX road trip to southern france with Manon, her dad and about 20 other riders. It was a great week of riding, eating and the odd beer. You could see the friendly rivalry between Manon and her Dad, and how it improved Manon's riding over the week. Wish I'd of gotten an autograph knowing that she'd soon be world champion. All the best for 2016.

 I've spoken to Manon's Dad a couple of times at Ramp World when my Son has been playing there, he really is a nice guy, I think I'd lose my mind being in a big hall full of kids all day.

 Watching this makes me wanna buy that new Canyon DH bike and go and race and ride some DH. Last raced DH 20 years ago in the NAMBs and NEMBA series. Then I remember I'm too old, have too many kids and don't like big jumps...so I'll stick to trail and the odd enduro and just watch the pros do it on Red Bull!

 It sucks that Manon had a rough time last year~ no doubt there's a lot of pressure when you're at the top and sometimes people expect too much of you.

I'll never forget the 1st time I went to Rampworld and my front caliper self destructed on the 1st run, after the dentist had f*cked up putting in my tooth that morning, and my track pump had exploded in the car park before I went in... Mad how little things like that can mess with your head.

Most of last year I had the prospect of losing my driving license hanging over me... the court case was just before the Van Rd Dual Slalom and I was waiting on the verdict when I went, so wasn't at my best, but Manon's dad was kind enough to help when I lost my phone

But hey, shit happens... the good news is everything in life is temporary and even if you have a bad year, soon enough things will be back on track.

Good luck to Manon this season, she should probably watch that dodgy Tahnee Seagrave though.

 She is a super cool lady . Always has time to speak to marshals (which I do for the BDS) and other riders , even asking advice from other riders in lower cats . Just a really nice person overall and super friendly . She the Nigel "No Wage" Page of this generation.
