so basically when he built his bike he wanted to go as far away from the norm as possible when it came to speccing it up?????
  • + 6
I was surprised he wasn't riding a Koxx.
  • + 6
That bike is awesomely specd for winter ! I wish my credit card had no limit
  • + 3
 sooo fresh. love it!

 4:00, face rock?

the xx, intro....where have you been?
  • + 0
The most impressive part is how you are able to go up steep hills in the woods without skidding, on a singlespeed bike, after a snowstorm. Second best is the log ride. Everything was pretty amazing though.
  • + 4
14 speed internal. Like a gear box in the hub.
  • + 3
The drivetrain makes good sense. The belt is softer in the cold then a chain making it easier to crank and no seizing. The internal hub gearbox is to keep him in the right gear enabling him to have loads of grip.
  • + 3
 Hardcore hardtail riding.
  • + 0
Nevertheless, his unrelenting ability to maintain friction is still amazing to me. The gear-hub is a very good idea. The fat that the belt requires the frame to be split is a huge drawback though. That and the fact that there isn't really anything you can do about a FS bike with chainstay growth/reduction.
  • + 2
There is a ton of ways to get around the chain growth issue, as well as the splitting the frame issue. Very easily actually.

dude got some skill & good the thing about snow is it's easier to shovel than dirt.

people need to find new songs for videos... countless people have used this one at the start Blank Stare
  • + 5
 but the rest is nice!

Yep, I hit mute and put on my own music as soon as I realized where the music was going.

 What is this song?

Can this video be sub-categorized as a German shizer bike-porn because of the frozen chocolate bar antics? Strange humour they have there...
  • + 3
however strange it was he was eating my trail snack of choice so i have to give him thumbs up for good taste at least....
  • + 1
but how did he keep his mars bar soft that's the real conundrum, when i take mine out in conditions like that it goes rock solid and you have to snap it when you bite it
  • + 6
Thats why he sat on it
  • + 4
Either that or he was waiting for it to hatch... :p
  • + 1
dont wanna sound like a moany git, but i can't find the point when he sits on his mars bar....its not the moment before he eats it thats for sure.
  • + 1
Haha, after looking at it closer, I think its just a slight goof in the editing or whatever. At 2:22 he definitely sets the bar down where he's going to sit, but in the very next shot when he's sitting down its no longer there.
  • + 3
??? Na! buddy he puts the mars bar on the table next to his drink. then sits in the space he made for his ass, then eats his strangely warm mars bar....lol, my wife has just ask what i'm huffin and puffing about......i'm too embarrassed to tell her its about whether or not some german dude sat on a mars bar or not.....think we need to kill this thread

I like this video. It's refreshingly different and it's now impossible to use equipment or weather as an excuse for not riding.

I was really struck by the use of sound in this edit - the snow shovel on the rocks, the crunch of the tires on snow, the obnoxious squeak of the brakes. Beautiful. Well done.

Great rider, good to see others riding in the snow, i've been doing it for years, I'm using scwalbe 2.3 ice spikers and they are insane on ice, not so good in deep snow, but then again nothing is, I might have to start bringing a shovel.

Really impressive to see that kind of performance.

Anyone remember last winter when Europe had record snow fall and cold temps and the Western US had a record warm winter and a complete lack of snow? If this vid and it being 60 F and sunny right now in SLC is any inclination of things to come we will be riding dry trails all winter.....we need the water though!
  • + 1
we had winter in february only, rideable as summer
[Reply]
  • + 2
Wow, I've never seen snow that was so grippy, ! The log ride is a no go, with an inch of snow... Good vid. and great skills. But not doable in the realty of Quebec winter. -15C this morning....

Just watching him climb those steps broke me
  • - 7
Yea, it's mind blowing, but shhhh... can you hear the silence? No one talks of benefits of clipless pedals for climbing...
  • + 4
Notice he is also 6 time trials world champion...
  • + 8
 He was on flat pedals
  • + 5
 WAKI, you just got owned.
  • + 2
Only suicidal trials riders would ride clipped.

Normally VODs make me want to ride, this one just makes me coldFrown Its nothing to do with the riding, its just that winter is finally starting to set in here in Eastern Ontario and the sight of snow makes me shiver

Winter is great. You live in Canada, you are not allowed to think otherwise.

The Megavalanche guy is Frank "Schneidi" Schneider. He is well known for general shredding in germany.
