When we originally decided to post the top 100 images I had wanted to talk a little bit about each of the top images, but having taken a look through them I don't really have much to say, each of the images speaks for itself. I will say that looking through this list of images tells a lot about what appeals to the majority of Pinkbike users. It's interesting to note that two of the top four images are crash photos, and there are two more crash shots in the top twenty, it's like a train wreck and everyone wants to look. In the top twenty there are two shots of Ruari Hallam carving a turn so low his bars are almost dragging, and three of the top ten shots are whips. Elliot Jackson whipping at Sea Otter from a great perspective, Danny Hart whipping a beer out of a spectators hand at Crankworx, and Danny Hart whipping in practice at Champery. Something that also caught my eye is the fact that aside from the number one image there aren't any dirt jump shots in the top twenty. And there have been some pretty spectacular jumping shots this year. Three of the top four POY images made it into the top twenty which is a good thing, I would have worried a bit if they hadn't. Take a look through and enjoy, there are a lot of great images here, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with next year. - Ian Hylands |

Richard Cunningham said flats are dead for DH and in the ensuing froth and spittle some commenters argued that clips are just as safe as flats in a crash. Well there are four DH crashes up there where the rider is in the unpredictable dynamics of a crash. Two are on clips (4 and 32), two are on flats (11 and 13). The flats riders' feet are completely clear of the pedals. The clipped riders are still in the pedals - and in spectacular fashion.
