This gives the USA a full sweep of the event, with wins in all 4 pro races. Gwin and Kintner in DH, and Kintner and Ropelato in GS.

On a sadder and unfortunate note Jill's team mate Lars Sternberg crashed near the start during finals and broke his fib. This comes only a week after Transition Racing's other rider, Bryn Atkinson, crashed at Plattekill breaking his femur and arm. It's been an incredibly hard week for the team and we wish all of them good thoughts and a quick recovery.

Gwin is just amazing. Way to go Stevie Smith. Great result at South Africa and now the only one even close to Gwin on the day. Bummed to see another good website made no mention of the second fastest guy on the day. Can always rely on Pinkbike. Thanks for the results and looking forward to the pics and vids.

Anyone know what tires Stevie's running? Almost looks like Telonics... which I find weird since he doesn't have a tire sponsor (at least as per the DeVinci website). I'd be curious to know why he chose those.

Stevie is such a wild card. You can never count him out of any race. just look at world champs last year

Ya nice one gwin, saving alot for the finals. I thought his qualifying time was conservative, he a beast and very smart. Other wc racers in big trouble with him this year. I just hope he stay healthy. These last 2 weeks have been rough here on the east coast. Three of the best riders in world have gone down and received massive injuries. Atkinson with femur-wrist, lars with fib, and me with femur-hip. These trails are no joke around here and can bite you any day at any time. Usually when least expecting it, then you in trouble. I wish us all a speedy recovery, and hopefully we'll b on a bike before end of this season. I on the bike already but can't pedal. I think lars has the best chance at full recovery, me an bryn are screwd with these femur breaks.

 And who are you exactly
  • 1 2
I'm that guy that been riding mt creek before it was diablo. Plattekill is my home away from home, when there your riding in my zone. I tore east coast a new one for decades, it going to take a few months recovery but I b back up there before you know it showing people the og trails.

Someone at Yeti woke up this morning feeling like an idiot for letting Gwin go…
  • 1 0
I doubt Yeti wanted to let Gwin go, it was just that Trek could compensate him better for his services.
  • 1 0
Well I guess they should've paid up
  • 1 0
If you look hard enough you'll find the letter explaining their decision.. it was either keep Gwin and scrap all the development programs, or to do what they've always done and continue to develop world class riders like Gwin.
  • 1 0
