Win a Follow Me Custom Demo 7

Nov 19, 2010
by Anthill Films
Last winter we started working with Specialized to create a customized Demo 7 for Follow Me. We didn't have a very good idea of what we wanted to do... all we knew was that we wanted something that looked good. Luckily for us Alain at Specialized is an expert at making bikes look good. When Alain was done we were super stoked on the design that he came up with.

Check out the custom Specialized Demo 7 that you can win if you order Follow Me from anthillfilms.com.
photo

Problem is... ever since Specialized sent us a couple of the bikes (only 5 were ever created), they've just been sitting there in our office, all shiny and new waiting patiently for their new owners, taunting us as we slave away in front of the computers.

The other day we cracked. We had a new camera we were testing and thought it was a good excuse to get one of the bikes out to the local Squamish trails and give it a test run. You know... just to make sure everything was working properly and that it looked as good on the trails as it did sitting in our office. We're happy to report that it does. The light wasn't the best, but we put a few shots together so you can see for yourself...

Don't worry we didn't test the one that you might win if you order Follow Me from anthillfilms.com... that bike is still sitting in perfect condition in the office. A constant reminder of what we'd rather be doing instead of working.

If you don't have a DVD or BluRay copy of Follow Me yet, order it now from anthillfilms.com/buy and you will automatically be entered to win the bike... you've got until December 31st before the deal ends. If you've already ordered a copy from our site then you are already entered - so good luck!

A HUGE thanks to Specialized for providing us (and maybe you) with such a beautiful bike. Visit www.anthillfilms.com/buy for all the details.

Thanks!

Anthill

PS - Don't forget that if you order from our site you also get a free 1 year subscription to Bike Mag.

  • 4 3
The contest does include itunes purchases guys. Lucky for me since I bought myself a bluray,, and three of my friends copies on itunes.
  • 1 0
does it really include itunes? cu i was like sweet! 10 bucks fer HD on itunes, as opposed to like 30 off the site
  • 6 5
Sorry. This does not include iTunes or purchases from somewhere else other than the Anthill site. The reason is we can't track who to enter into the draw unless you order from us. Thanks!

THAT IS CRAP! We all purchased copies of the movie (supporting them) and we don't get a chance to win the bike because we didn't get it directly from them?? That will be the last DVD i buy produced by anthill.
  • 34 5
So, because you got a deal on the movie and didn't get entered into a contest you didn't know about at the time, you're not going to support a company anymore? because you aren't entered into a contest that you likely woudln't win? sounds pretty selfish and childish. you should be happy you bought a sick film.
  • 1 0
 What about through Pinkbike??
  • 3 0
 Ditto, itunes...
  • 10 1
Why is there a contest now, after the film has been out for 5 or 6 months? Seems abit illogical...
  • 19 0
increase sales around christmas. basic marketing.....
  • 8 0
 Now it makes sen$e...
  • 1 0
All those who bought it off I tunes should complain to i tunes. Mine was skipping really bad, so I complained and they gave me a full credit and let me keep the digital version. Then I bought the dvd (from a shop unfortunately, so I miss out on the comp) and now I have all the extras and behind the scenes stuff that come with the dvd but not the itunes version.
  • 7 2
 To Anthill Films:

If you guys won't include iTunes purchases for the contest then remove the "Buy from iTunes" option on your website because you are misleading the buyers.
  • 4 1
Meh, it should really be one of the new Demos anyway. You can check out that actual bike hanging in Evolution in Whistler, does look pretty cool. It is stupid to have the contest now, makes no sense at all.
  • 1 1
shame the comp only applys to 50 us states :/
  • 5 7
fuck you guys, im buying it off the website. looks like a demo 7 for me!

 @ dave6797:

I couldn't get the rules & regs portion to work fromt eh web site so I will go off of Dingus' post and bitch like a lot of other peeps. Not Arizona? Weird, most contests are open in AZ. Maybe it is a d-bag of a govoner you don't like.
Anyway congrats to one of you bastards out there.

It was during the terrible times, skies were dark and the rain was pouring heavily. A dark era was upon us. Johny said we have to clear that gap today, even if it winds like in Non Amoch . We went there to the open plains of Stratfold Gnugh Ankar, the only sun beam wast casting on this freshly built hip. We apprached slowly for we knew Xc bikers are not allowed in these weary lands. The stories of the elders were telling about these unexplainable queer happenings in this place. XC riders disappearing, and all to be found was pools of blood mixed with fork oil. Suddenly we heard a mighty groar, and there he was: Cthulu the lord of darkness... shagin' all the sheep in the valley!

Can I get my Demo now?
  • 2 0

you pervert! you would like to read 1000 words about sheep shagging?

It is very sad these days to see how many grown men act like selfish kids. It's something free. It should go to somebody who deserves it and needs it. If you're crying and throwing a tantrum about not being eligible for the bike, you obviously are not the type of person who deserves such a generous donation. Grow up.
  • 1 3
Most people work hard for there money and when buy a product and don't get treated the same as others down the line that will create controversy.. I know I don't spend $30+ to buy films, but I did cause I support what it goes to and helping Anthill stay a float! You don't know me or anyone else, so you can say who deserves it or not. I don't really know but some of these people that you say are "throwing a tantrum" might not have that much money and do need the bike (also they could sell the bike and use that money to move to a better location or help them ride one or more years which could in fact help get money to the mountain biking community!!!). You may see it as people crying about it, but in a business standpoint its an open discussion on why people that have bought the film are not treated the same as the people who are now just buying it. The other thing that DOESN'T make sense is there letting ANYONE (even people who haven't bought the film) write a story to be entered.. So that means that someone that didn't even buy the film or support Anthill could win the bike.. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE!?? They should have stated a LONG TIME ago that they where going to have this contest since they just said they had the bikes the whole time, that if you buy it from them you will get entered into the contest..
  • 1 0
ooookay, first of all do you not think that anthill are going to reward those who supprted them better by spending more money on the film? surely that's an obvious thing to do... also what you're forgetting is that this is an EXTRA GIFT, a way to say thank you for those people who really supported the company rather than just paying a tenner for the itunes version (and of course a way to boost sales around xmas). it's not practical for anthill to try to keep a record of everyone who bought one; if i go into my lbs and buy this, i don't expect to have to fill in a form with my name and address for every little purchase in case i happen to win something in future. and yes it DOES make sense actually, as it's the law. you must provide a "no purchase necessary" option for any competition, and rather than lose any prospective customers, anthill decided to do a competition which very few people will enter (1000 words for a small chance of winning a bike is tons!). finally, i kind of agreee with you in that they maybe should have announced the comp when the film was released (which was SICK by the way), but clearly this is a way of boosting sales as i said already, and they probably hadn't thought about this comp when they released it. you should be thankful that companies like this are handing out sick freebies. if anyone reads all this i'll be amazed...

 blueberrybagels...

My bike probably isn’t worth 5% of yours, or anybody else’s on this website. I take care of it though and work very hard for what I own. I work 2 full time jobs and freelance graphic design on the side and I still don’t have any extra play money to upgrade my bike. I still went to the site after watching the trailer to inquire on buying the DVD, saw the price and had to think about it. My fiancé saw me watching the trailer and I went on to tell her about the bike I had a chance at winning if I bought the DVD. She demanded that I buy the DVD so I could give myself a chance at winning my dream bike. I couldn’t afford to buy that bike, but if I won it I guarantee I would ride it until the wheels fall off!! I wouldn’t sell it for any price because I wouldn’t be able to purchase it again. This bike is 1 of 5 made!! I hope nobody would win this bike and turn around and sell it. Some people are like that though and have no need for a bike like this…they would just rather make money off the deal.

Anyways…everybody buy the DVD and give yourself a shot at winning! This is going to make someone's Christmas one to remember!
  • 1 1
Yes I agree with you guys both on some things, and as I try to look at all aspects I have already understood that some people just don't have enough money and this bike would be great for them. Yes I've worked really hard in life and others would say I'm an all around stand up guy. I've worked hard not to have debt and it allowed me to buy a nice bike, but I'm definitely not rich by any means. Bp82 if you read what I said carefully I stated that this bike would be great to KEEP for someone OR for someone else to sell and help them MOVE to a better location (LIKE ME) so I can pursue my goal of DH racing and maybe start making some video's. Since that bike is basically free all that lost money would be in turn going back to the mountain bike community.. (and you might be thinking why don't I just write a damn story and get it over with, cause I don't have any stories at all and I'm not going to lie and make one up..) I really don't know the whole picture yet but I've been trying to get into it (biking and sales). There's two ways Anthill and other companies make there money which you probably already know. Sell it directly them selves and through other companies/dealers/websites. Either way anybody has paid I'm saying that they should still get the same chance. I would guess that they have made more of there money through companies/dealers/websites.. I'm just trying to figure out why my money/support isn't good enough.. I'm trying to own anyone, put them down or anything like that I'm just trying learn about this so any positive comments would be appreciated..

I have participated in so many contests which gives these cool prizes, but these prizes always go to USA or CND...even if its opened worldwide. I dont mind buying a DVD... but now i feel this bike will never come to India for sure.
  • 3 2
sorry dude but just think about how many more people enter this contest in USA/CAD than India. I'm sure everyone's got a fair shot at it.
  • 2 0
Yea i know..and it makes sense. But what i mean to say here is.. now i have given hopes. Even though end of the day only 1 lucky dude will get it anyways.

flag essfour (Nov 19, 2010 at 8:43) (Below Threshold)
It would cost way too much to ship it to India.
  • 2 0
Vineet, in the last recut contest, the SAINT winner was from Bulgaria - still waiting on a few parts for him, but he's getting a sweet prize for entering. We're a global site, lots of prizes go all over the world.
  • 1 0
Thanx Tyler. im working on the essay finally. Hope i make it \m/
  • 1 0
@essfour, it doesn't matter what the shipping costs are. If Anthill/Pinkbike decided to do this they should, and can disregard the shipping costs, regardless of whoever wins. There's a LOT of money involved in this industry so I don't believe the cost of shipping a whole bike worldwide would make it bankrupt.
  • 1 0
Too some extent its true that shipping to my country is expensive... not to mention about the shipping duty charges. However as I have been ordering parts online since a long time, I have experimented and found out that shipping by non-private carriers like USPS, Royal Mail or Canadian mail is way to cheap compared to private carriers like UPS, or FedEx.
For Example : If shipping just the frame in box by FedEx would cost around $200 , the same thing would cost around $80 to $100 max by USPS international... and sometime maybe even less.
  • 1 0
On their rules and regs page ( http://www.anthillfilms.com/rulesnregs.html ) it says: " Winners outside of Canada and the United States are responsible for all shipping costs. "
So it wouldnt have anything to do with shipping costs... would be crazy expensive for you though.

haha just saw you also have to be able to: " correctly answer (3x6) +12/2-8 = " Didn't realize maths was so important in bike winning lol
  • 1 1
since when is math plural??? and basicly all give away contest require a skill testing question . i dont know why but theres some sorta law that says they gotta have one
  • 2 1
People in the UK say maths. It's mathematics in full so it makes sense for it to be maths anyway.
  • 2 0
So I just went to there site and read the rules and regulations.. should have done this before I wrote my statement above haha. But here's what it says.

"No purchase is necessary to enter the contest. If you wish to enter the contest without purchasing the DVD/BluRay simple write a minimum 1,000-word story about the best experience you ever had riding your bike with your friends. Email the story to info@anthillfilms.com before the contest close date."

Too bad I just started riding seriously/a lot and I don't have any good stories to tell.. So I'm double screwed!! Guess I'm not meant to win the bike.. haha Just have to laugh I guess.
  • 2 0
That could be fun wrighting a story
  • 7 0
make sure to use spell check brock =P
  • 1 0
 IM doing the essay now!
  • 1 0
Bagles it says your best experience. It doesn't state your experience has to be better than anyone elses. Hell the first day you threw a leg over the MTB and realized it got you going more than your CBR's could do it. I'm in state that this contest is void so shiz man.
  • 2 0
I can't believe the amount of bitching over this. A small company making amazing mountain bike films for us all to watch and perhaps learn a little too. Who cares if you bought the dvd when it came out or waited until now to buy it, if you want to enter a competition then buy another copy, surely 30 bucks for a chance of winning that bike is worth it, you could always get it for your mates birthday or christmas etc etc or even sell it. Either way these guys get more money to make more great films that will keep amazing us until will die. Well done Anthill and Pinkbike.
  • 3 0
So if I brought it through pinkbke within the frist hour of the per-ording becoming available ...do I still get the 1 year subscription to bike mag?
  • 1 0
I'm in the same boat as everyone else.. I just bought my DVD like 3 weeks ago (not at anthillfilms.com/buy) and now I'm not going to be entered in to win the bike.. But technically we all payed to help/support you guys make this movie and do what you love to do (make films and ride). I know its a long shot for me or anyone to win (plus I've never won anything in my life) but let me and everyone else know if there's a way to get in the drawling. Thanks! and GREAT DVD!! Already have watched it a ton!
  • 3 1
Order a copy as a gift or something if you are so concearned. Everyone needs to quit their whining and just be stoked that they give a bike away at all.
  • 3 2
Some of us could hardly afford to buy the DVD in the first place. Thus why some of us opted for the iTunes way. I myself bought the DVD from a LBS, supporting them, which in turn supports you. But now, all who cough up the all money straight to Anthill get a free subscription AND a chance to win a bike. ANTHILL support those who support you. Without out ALL your customers, and shops that sell the bikes (you are giving away and keeping for yourself to ride) to support the industry, your sponsors would not be there to hand you free sh!t to give away and money to make films for a living. Hell, without them, you wouldn't have anyone to film. Do us a favor, and at least give a chance for those who are doing more to support the industry.
Sincerely, your LBS and Film supporter.
  • 4 1
I wish we could but logistically it's not possible. We appreciate everyone who supported the film. You can still enter - check the rules and regs on our site.
  • 5 1
I dont agree. This is obviously a way to ramp up sales, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. You like the movie right? You all sound like you got ripped off. This bike givaway is a bonus. Its really cool of them to do, and people are complaining?????? I know where you are coming from but if you really want a chance (which is most likely slight btw) then buy another copy, give it as a christmas gift to someone.
  • 2 1
Oh, and I guess they chose to include crybabies, go to their site for rules and regs.
  • 1 0
 Anthill----
First, GREAT DVD!! (watch it all the time).. Second, My statement I posted 5 or so min after my first one(Directly below this) I stated that I read the rules and regulations and pointed it out to everyone that there is a second way of doing it. My problem is what I stated below and I don't have any good stories cause I have just started riding seriouly and I live in freaking Kansas!! haha I have integrity and moral values about not lying so I'm not going to make up a story that never happened.. So I'm still out of luck.

Darkstar63----
First, I understand the whole ramping up the sales thing, that's fine and all but you said you still see where we are coming from. Well it kinda makes the consumer feel shitty when he's already bought a product then doesn't get TREATED the same as someone that just bought it. Maybe some of us don't have another person(that is interested in this type of stuff) to buy this film for.. Second, on your second statement don't be a TWAT and LOOK at the next statement directly under me and see that I had wrote another statement 5 or so minutes after my first one and READ IT..
  • 1 0
I saw it after i posted. So i then went and read thier site. I just dont think its justified to be upset about a bike givaway. .......................not trying to be a "twat" Smile
  • 2 0
 Anthill--
The other thing that DOESN'T make sense at all is your letting ANYONE (even people who haven't bought the film) write a story to be entered.. So that means that someone that didn't even buy the film or SUPPORT Anthill (YOU) could win the bike.. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE!?? ((I would bet everything that I have that the bike will go to someone that didn't buy a DVD, unless you rig it so it doesn't and just use the stories as future ideas)) So if you were trying to get more sales of the film because of this "you could win a bike" its now going to backfire completely because your opening the drawling to everyone. I'm surprised that you guys didn't state a long time ago that you were going to have a drawling for the bike and it was only eligible to people who bought it from you.. Then you would have seen more money come directly to you.. A LOT MORE MONEY. And I know you would have liked that, because then you could make another KICK ASS film that is even bigger and better (plus have a little extra cash in your pocket)!

Darkstar--
Your not a twat. Its just frustrating when you see these kinds of things since I grew up with my dad being a business teacher at a university (which he has a PhD in). I know my chances are small on winning the bike, its just the fact that I stated above in this comment that I'm a little frustrated in.
  • 1 0
Legally, all contests need to have a "no purchase necessary" option to enter. You have to have it. Get over it.
  • 1 0
Bagels, is that your 1000rr? In your profile.
  • 1 0
The motorcycle use to be mine.. I sold it.
  • 1 0
I did not know legally you have to do that.. But I'm still going to say it stupid that someone that didn't buy the film could win
  • 1 0
I had a 2006 CBR600, loved it. nice bike. Yea, they have to do the no purchase necessary thing, I have no idea why thats a law.
  • 1 0
yeah I've had a 2003 Honda CBR 954rr then got a 2003 Honda RC51 (for coolness factor) then got the 2007 Honda CBR 1000rr. The fasted I went on it was 184mph.. Lost interest in it though cause racing is too expensive and I like DH and big hucks more!! So I want to try and move to Canada or somewhere in the Northwest to train and maybe get in some events next year.
  • 1 0
I too find DH to be more of a thrill. The fastest I got my 600 up to was about 158, pretty stinking fast. Hucking bikes is more fun. The RC51 is one of my all time favorites. I had the pleasure of working as a motorcycle tech at a Honda dealer, and have ridden all the bikes you have owned. Each of them fantastic!
  • 1 0
Read the contest rules, you don't have to purchase the dvd to enter, they say 'write a 1000 word story about the best riding day with your friends', but this would be illegal in the UK. It is a no skill draw, so every entrant must have the same chance of winning, therefore if you send in your full name, address and contact number, stating you wish to be entered for the draw, they are obliged to enter you.
  • 1 0
This is what I don't get, seems like a pretty flawed competition.

It's standard for a company to offer certain buying incentives around Christmas to encourage buying and boost sales.
I'm sure Anthill is not trying to rip anyone off...
They're just doing what every other company does around this time of year.
Look at PS3 and Xbox's. Let's say you buy a 60GB version for $300, then several months later Christmas time rolls around and you see a 120GB for the same price. This happens ALL, THE, TIME around Christmas...
  • 1 0
Is this the bike that's been sitting outside Evolution in Whistler all summer? If so, the bike looks friggin sweet. I can't write to save my life, but it would def be worth at least going in the draw for it.

We are a small company and shipping to places all over the world is not what we very well. Luckily Pink Bike offered to help us out and handle fulfillment for sales from our site. Thanks for ordering!

What if you buy it from Pinkbike?

 This sucks guys!

preordered and paid my copy over 2 months ago and still did not receive anything!!!!!
Not even an info when it will shipped out and then also everyone who has ordered over pinkbike dont even get a chanche for winning the bike!??

For this whole problems and waiting, every customer should get at least a chanche to win this bike!

For you your customers are nothing worth! :-(
  • 1 0
Every customer DOES get a chance to win this bike...
Hasn't anyone noticed that you can enter the contest without even buying the movie? It's on their website!
You have to write 1000 words about the best riding experience you've ever had and email it to them. Therefore, EVERYONE gets a chance to win...
Man some of you guys are serious whiners. Change your diapers and write 1000 words if you want a chance to win!
  • 2 0
i cannit find it on itunes Frown
  • 1 0
its not available in the uk on itune ive been led to believe Frown
  • 1 0
It's not available on uk itunes, but switch to the american store and you'll be able to buy it there
  • 1 0
@richard yes, but only with vouchers, as the US store requires validation of your credit card with your address in the US. You can't fake that as resident of anywhere but the US, so you need to get a voucher first, then you can buy it. However, it's not a big deal, just google for iTunes vouchers and you'll find the few good websites that sell them.
  • 1 0
If you live outside of the US and Canada you can get a digital download from us. Details on our site: www.anthillfilms.com/buy
  • 1 0
I have a question, I opted for the digital download from your site (not the itunes download the other one) vs ordering a DVD/bluray. Does this enter me into the contest?

Cheers
  • 1 0
@anthill do I need itunes to play that digital copy??
  • 1 0
No it should work on any media player. And the contest is for DVD and BluRay purchases only. But you can enter if you don't want to buy. Check the rules and regs.
  • 1 0
I see...so, whoever gets the digital copy / itunes, does not enter the contest? I also wonder if I could convert the video later to my iphone?
