 Errrr not sure about that!

The Commonwealth games XCO is happening as I type this, Evie Richards is currently in the lead, and all I can find is crappy BBC coverage. I only found out about it by chance! Sure it's not WC but it's got some big names competing, surely we could have at least had a few articles about the track/riders/tech etc? Why no coverage of this at all @brianpark @edspratt @alicialeggett?

@everythingscomingupmilhouse: They don't really do primers/prep for localized national type stuff. You will likely see recap articles and results just like you did for most of the nationals races that happened right before snowshoe. Same reason why you never see stuff for European champs or Pan-American champs for example. Only so many resources to go around and they have MSA to focus on for this weekend.

@wilsonians: commomwealth games are an international competition, competitirs come from 24 different countries. So its actually quite similiar to a world cup
  • 3 1
@qualms23: I get it, was just saying that they only tend to cover the biggest stuff since they only have so many folks. If Commonwealth was running outside of WC schedule and not backed up on major WC weeks it'd probably be diff.
  • 1 1
@wilsonians: yeah good points. I guess to me it just seems more similar to the Olympics XCO than a European/Pan-european champs but I get there are limits on what can be done, maybe not that many people care and you can't please everyone. The results are up at least!

@everythingscomingupmilhouse: they aren't covering it live but you didn't even give it a chance to finish, the results are up now.
  • 5 0
@qualms23: Yeah, there may be 24 different countries with athletes at the Commonwealth Games, but how many of those athletes are good enough to be racing at UCI XCO World Cup level? I think about 5 riders maximum. It is nothing like a World Cup race at all. I mean there were only eight starters in the women's race. Most national championships do better than this, ha-ha!

Pity they've removed the best gnar section from the track.
  • 2 0
Arguably one of the best gnar sections on the circuit...
  • 3 0
If La Beatrice is gone then I suspect the lung/leg busting climb of L’Enfer de Ste. Anne that leads to it is gone too
  • 1 1
Questions @edspratt: why did they decide to remove La Beatrice? What will it be replaced by?
  • 1 0
It is a pity but I'm reserving judgement until I've seen the new sections. Hopefully we'll get a course preview video here in the next couple of days.
  • 2 0
@MDW83: here's a course preview: youtu.be/eih2ZIt35gA Looks like a great track, but definitely missing the most iconic parts.
  • 4 0
My OCD is not really liking the mix in the videos and results from last season (men / women) ^^

 NINO!!
  • 1 0
Hatherly alan done very well this year, good luck for the next races.
  • 2 1
 Penultimate means second to last.
  • 3 0
There is more more race after this in Val di Sole.
  • 5 0
and antepenultimate means third to last. there was a talk on CBC radio a minute after I first read this about it. and preantipenultimate is fourth to last, PROPREANTEPENULTIMATE is fifth from last
  • 6 0
the World Champs don't count for the World Cup Overall, so penultimate is correct
  • 2 1
@taprider: CBC radio is a gem for things like this, casual discussons about things to don't think you need to know, but do.
