"The forest out here in British Columbia is magical," said Chase. "The trees are huge, the trails are steep, and you’re doing whatever it takes to keep your tires on."
The ride begins on a steep mossy rock-roll worthy of any Coast Mountain edit, but then things quickly step up a notch. With freeride icon Brett Tippie along to stoke the session, Chase’s legendary riding skills are showcased hitting up a precise, high-consequence log-ride-to-drop built and pioneered by Darren Berrecloth.
To finish, Chase and eventually Tippie send a ridiculous gap jump over a creek. “The consequences are super high," said Chase of the trail's most robust feature. "You’re field-goaling between two trees and there’s a pretty ninja pump track to get into it.”
I was really asking myself where was that tree-drop in the Go pro 3 video and who was riding !!! Now I have the answer, and by the way, the GOpro 3 launching is the video of the century !
two features I would not be completing....that log roll and the creek gap. NOPE. Have to get up and go to work in the morning with all my arms/legs working...
I don't know if it was just because I was watching it without sound ( I don't know why that would matter) but the video kept going into so mo right before the jump and I would think, he's not going to make it!
That log ride is crazy. I remember seeing this footage on the GoPro 3 launch video, so this must have been filmed a while ago... Can anyone explain what they are doing with the torch on the log ride?
My first connotation with Squamish is a fishing mecca, but I learned about really attractive, wild trails there, with the famous tree drop, so I enjoyed the video very much.
Sorry but POV filming is pointless 1. It never reflects the ride as YOU the rider saw it and 2. For the viewer it's mostly unwatchable. Here's another example, even with great riders by halfway through you looking forward to the end. The only way these cameras reflect the ride is to mount them away from the rider.
Quite honestly, I was a bit unimpressed by the first and last features...
The skinny was certainly impressive (at least in my mind as skinny's scare me....), but the other two....especially the rockface to ladder...I mean seriously? I'm no pro, but this is intermediate riding at best. Creek gap was point and shoot as well....
I mean shit, I've seen these two guys hit some intense lines...seemed like they overplayed these features in order for the layman pinkbiker to feel like they can relate to a couple of legends.
Probably get down voted for this comment, but just speaking my mind.
