"Brendan was fully involved right at the start of the Vault development. He helped us with the shape and feel of the product as well as guiding us with what he wanted to do with the axle length and pins…everything really. We wanted him on the pedal but couldn't because of his sponsor ties. Our first year with Bren running the pedal was 2011. He ran it for a full world cup season whilst we we're developing his own signature colour way. This thing was a group effort. Quite simply, its the pedal he wanted to run so we made the most of it.

Bren had some pins on his moto which he wanted to try on a pushbike. We got them off him and tracked down the manufacturer in Taiwan. After testing them on the pedal he was pumped. He currently runs them in the low spot of the concave. This is because they are thinner but taller and allow your foot to sink into the pedal more. A slightly more aggressive feel for wild loose riding.

The Vaults have a big platform, a low profile and don't collect mud. Brendan runs them on his jump, XC and DH bikes. " - Olly Wilkins, DMR Bikes

F*ck the pedals, I want one of the new Scott Gamblers so bad! Look amazing in neon green!!!

No doubt. I love bright colours, it would be so sick to shred a trail and stand out like that ! ^^^

Haha, I was thinking the same thing Matt.

 Never mind R.I.P berms.... R.I.P SHINS !!

Agree on the Scott being over priced. $7k is a lot let alone not having a top shelf build spec.
  • 2 1
almost as bad as the Trek session 9.9, almost 10k and comes with bontrager

So he is sponsored by a bike company but, just for their pedals? Isn't that like riding for Giant but, being sponsored by Kona for pedals? Can we see Brendawg ride some jump trails on a 24" DMR hard tail please?
  • 1 0
We'll never see that, trust me Wink

Such a bummer that there's not much riding in this Video... Frown

 pedals are just pedals.
  • 7 1
That's like saying bikes are just bikes.
  • 2 0
pedal spanner would have been cheaper

no its not like saying bikes are just bikes. they're are a lot of differences with bikes. pedals on the other hand, aside from saving weight don't have a whole lot of noticeable differences. Especially flats
  • 2 0
weight and traction and mud clearance are all noticable... and thats on flats, on clipless you run a set of dx's then switch to mallets or z strongs and tell me they feel the same, trust me they're not.

I've been rocking the vaults for a season now on my am bike. There pretty light, ultra slim, but HUGE PLATFORM. almost a little to big sometimes. i have small feet, i wear an 8.5 /42 shimano MT show. and the pedal sticks out a good cm or two from the edge of my shoe. So I end up hooking rocks here and there with them the odd time* not knowing exactly where my pedals are. I still prefer the v12 mag pedal anyday since its smaller and you can localize the center of the pedal easily with your shoe.

Also the pedal pins come pre installed without any locktite, they start to fall out after your first ride. make sure you locktite them!
  • 1 0
Huge platform is precisely the reason I want these...or maybe the Acros pedal which are even bigger!
  • 3 1
If you live in BC support the local boys over at straightline .. those pedals are amazing ! any shoe, loads of grip and super strong. ( down fall, takes a while to install all the pins if you use all of the pins. but whatever. )
  • 1 0
I will be making another purchase on some v12s or the straightlines, although the v12s are reduced in price a bit since the release of the vaults.
  • 1 0
I don't live in BC I didn't even buy mine in Canada, but regardless of where you live straitline pedals are the bees knees
  • 1 0
i ride dh clipped in. i feel like a dog at a llama orgy ya know?
  • 1 0
Haha! saw that pic on my facebook couple days ago, too funny man, Riding clipped in has NEVER been an option for me, but these Straightline pedals has just become an option for sure. Pedals are quite important... so, ya..

hate to say this and DMR got some nice Fairclough pedals coming out, but Brendawg does not actually need pedals, he only needs pegs! This boy spends less time on the pedals and more time flapping his dawgs in the air toe/heel clacking as evidenced at the 0:46 second mark! Go dawg and DMR!

This video makes me sad because I know I will never be as fast or stylish as Brendog ):

Size 13 FiveTen Sam Hills take up all the real estate on the Vaults. I ran them for a while, but changed to a more concave pedal (HT AE2). If the "Brendogs" are more concave then the originals, I think they will be better.
  • 12 13
whats the big deal? vaults have been around for ages! as far as i can see the only difference with these "new" pedals is its got drendog written on it. In my opinion this is just marketing bullshit. i may buy vaults but not these ones
  • 10 2
There's "new pins" don't forget Wink at least the price of the old volts will drop!
  • 5 1
you're smarter than you look ;-)

it's marketing,, but it's not BS....
  • 5 0
He also said they increased the concave, so they are not so flat.
  • 2 1
seems just like any other flat pedal to be honest. I'd like to see a dh specific flat pedal that concaves downward slightly on the top surface rearward starting at the axle - to help keep heels down and the arch of your foot positioned over the axle of the pedal.
  • 3 0
^interesting concept esstinkay, has it been done yet?
  • 1 0
Yeah, it's been done before -- it's called CONVEX pedals and everyone wants the opposite!
  • 1 0
wow, thanks @classicmoto, I never knew that. I looked and found the Canfield crampons are convex, $150 youch though. Still, I've not seen any complaints about those specifically. Are you aware of any other brand/model of convex pedals? I'd actually really like to try them out.

PRICE?!?? I want these so bad but not sure if they're going to break the budget - I have a sneaking suspicion they might... :/

If you wear down those 4 pins on the center, how can you get them out? They don't install from the back side.

Amenay by Purity Ring on the Shrines album. This is the 3rd Purity Ring song I've heard in an MTB video in one month! I wonder if Purity Ring is starting to wonder why a bunch of MTB'rs are suddenly listening too them.
  • 1 1
I'm sure I saw an article in Dirt or somewhere about these 'new' pedals months ago?
  • 1 0
mr style: how do you ride like that awesome
  • 2 2
Balls to that. Buy a set of superstar nano tech's for less than half the price and still an awesome product.
  • 3 0
Yeah you could do that but if you buy the DMRs then you'd ride faster!... This is how marketing works!!!
