PRESS RELEASE: Atherton Bikes

Atherton Bikes has unveiled an AM.200 DH bike in a limited edition of just ten units to mark Charlie Hatton's 2023 World Championship victory at Fort William.

A hand-crafted limited edition downhill bike built to celebrate an epic British triumph - the AM.200 Gold is hand-crafted in Machynlleth and is a full-team replica of the bike that bore Charlie to victory with team-mate Andreas Kolb just 0.5 seconds behind him in second.

The World Champs spec AM.200 represents the gold standard in ride quality and handling, with Charlie saying that he rode the horrendous conditions on the day "as if it were dry."

The availability of 12 standard sizes ensures that every rider can experience this level of confidence for themselves.

Atherton Bikes CEO Dan Brown said, "To be the first British bike brand to take that Elite World Champs win and to achieve that win on a production bike so soon in our company's history is the absolute dream. We wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the hard work that has gone into this moment – from riders, engineers, team partners and our tight-knit team of employees here in Machynlleth."

This limited edition model features black lugs and raw carbon tubes finished with unique gold accents and supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Charlie - available now and limited to ten units.

@ThatOneGuyInTheComments: Nope. The amount of times their bikes geo's changes, it's gonna be obsolete in about 2 weeks

Bit cheaper than any F1 car that’s won a round this year.
  • 22 2
 Cheaper than I expected honestly

There's 2 ways to look at it. 1) You're getting the cream of the crop of DH bikes for less than 10k, which is actually not bad all things considering. 2) The finishing kit is not out of this world. Alloy wheels, cranks, bars,... It makes you wonder why 10k+ bikes even exist. Does anyone really need Enve wheels when a set of Stans do the same job? But I guess no one really needs a Ferrari or Patek Phillip either.

not seen an atherton bike on the trails yet. Could be tempted by a gold AM170 frameset with Ohlins suspension, but the bikes I have are still great, so probably not for the next 3-5 years. Thank god the bike industry has finally leveled out with little meaningful change over the past 5 years.

Wel done charlie! Keep it up, who knows you may own the whole darn chocolate factory one day! Props!!

 Honestly.

I don't really give two f*cks about buying an expensive bike even if I can indeed afford one.

But there is something about the Atherton bikes I REALLY like.

Sure I wouldn't ride them like they should be ridden Smile but still.

I thought the whole idea was you could tailor them to you exact liking in terms of size etc.
  • 1 0
You can, but they also have standard sizes for those who want them.
  • 6 1
Hey Andy - yes this limited edition is still available in 12 standard sizes - or a custom size... its the spc and finishing that are the limited offer for these 10 units ... The option to chose your own components is still available on our other AM.200 builds...
  • 1 0
I'm sure if one of the 12 sizes on offer doesn't suit you, they would do that for you at extra cost!?
  • 2 0
Gold coil please, then I might consider it....
  • 1 0
Can someone explain why they use an 11 speed chain on a 7 speed cassette?
  • 3 1
the 7 speed isn't 7 speed. it's 10 speed with the last 3 gears swapped for a spacer. This improves the chain-line for DH bikes due to short cage mechs. So you run either a 10 or 11 speed chain.
  • 3 0
SRAM 7 speed cassettes have 11 speed spacing and are meant to be run with an 11 speed chain.
  • 2 1
So now the price is even higher.....
  • 6 1
You usually find that with custom ltd editions of things.
