I’d love to see another angle of that near-death finish

I need to see that from a different angle as well, holy crap

Some ones gotta have some track side footage out there?

The GoPro footage should be worth it too. Lets hope it gets published somewhere

@logcabm77: I thought it was gonna be another Remi Thirion crash finish. That’s was some scary sh*t!

It would have had to be dubbed the French Finish.

Fucking hate watching that clip of Remi's crash, it's pretty much your worst night mare while in the air !

@jb2mntbike: is he even covering both brakes?
  • 1 0
@thenotoriousmic: Hell no...last thing he wants to do right there is even tap that front brake!!!

100% Thought his tyre had gone in the woods but watching back now maybe it was just water hitting the Rotor?

i think he punctured but it sealed up right away. ive never heard of water hitting a rotor and flashing to steam like that.

@sooner518: seems like it though, it's exactly when he hits the puddle with his rear wheel. Can't see why not, his brakes surely can be over a hundred degrees c

I also think its the rotor, it would have been an important ammount of sealant if that were the case...
  • 8 1
Yeah Im pretty sure it was the rotor, but man that thing must have been hot to flash that much steam like that. Wowza

It was water hitting the brake rotor saw it frame by frame.

@LavenderGooms: You ever grab a rotor mid run? I made that mistake once and it melted the glove to my finger.
  • 2 0
@LavenderGooms: absolutely the rotor. Doesn't take much to make steam when you hit a puddle.
  • 2 0
@keeqan: Flash boiling occurs when a surface is around 250C. I'd say that's pretty hot, although it may not take too much braking at those speeds. It's more impressive than anything else!
  • 3 0
@pinkberry3: Very impressive. Never seen it caught on film like this before!

 Definitely the rotor imgur.com/a/Yw0qT9A

@pinkberry3: video of the exact same thing happening to a friends brake rotor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywB_mgHYjXE&t=428s
There a reason Shimano uses all those weird cooling things and everyone else uses DOT fluid. 250 is nothing! try dripping some water on you rotor next time you finish a longer run, it'll sizzle for sure.

Finn's face at the end was what 1000's of people were doing watching that finish, including me. Awesome race!

Just getting into MTB. If this doesn't get you stoked for the sport then nothing will. Badass!

 Welcome to the family.

crazy fact: when Rob Warner thought the tire of Pierron blew, it was just steam from the hot disc when splashing trough the puddle. Crazy heated brake - no wonder they ride 220mm discs now!
  • 6 1
Nah I don't think Pierron actually used his brakes lol

Might be one of the wildest runs I’ve ever seen. What you need to do to win a World Cup these days is absolutely disgusting.

 terrifying!

That last squash was almost the end of him. That was Unbelievably fast!
  • 4 0
It did totally look like he blew his tire off eh

Well deserved win for Pierrion. Such a complete rider, laying down the power at every opportunity then riding the raged edge on the techy sections. Maybe its just the tight pants that get those extra seconds

Pierron is such a beast! Wild finish.

He was still pedaling over the kick, the tire rubbed his butt throwing him forward.

@qreative-bicycle: good eye brother, I watched it at least a dozen times and couldn’t see that. Champion run for sure!
