PRESS RELEASE: Enduro World Series

We are excited to announce EWS Travel - a completely new travel service designed to put you at the heart of the some of the most inspiring mountain bike communities on earth.

Our races have become synonymous with incredible riding destinations - and now everyone, not just racers, can experience these mind blowing locations through EWS Travel.

In conjunction with the award-winning H+I Adventures, EWS Travel will offer once in a lifetime mountain biking holidays that not only drop you into incredible trails, but also fully immerse you in the local riding culture. Designed to be more than just a vacation, these exclusive trips will put you in the heart of the riding community, meeting the trail builders and being guided by stalwarts of the local scene.

SS7 and an absolute classic view the queen stage for this round.

The first experience on offer will be to the island paradise of Madeira. This week long trip to the Pearl of the Atlantic, which recently hosted the third round of the series, will offer you the chance to ride the trails used in the race alongside the people who built them and know them best. Follow the tyre marks of Martin Maes and Isabeau Courdurier along breath taking cliff tops and down steep, technical terrain or the jumps made famous by Loic Bruni in the Gamble Movie. The fully guided trip will explore all the riding on offer on the island, including local spots that have yet to make it on to the international radar.

Chris Ball, Managing Director of the Enduro World Series, said: “In the EWS we get to visit amazing locations and meet some of the most innovative and inspiring mountain bike communities. EWS Travel is an extension of what we are already doing, allowing riders to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and ride some of the best trails in the world.

“Madeira is an iconic riding destination and with good reason - the trails on this incredible island are more diverse than any others I’ve experienced around the world. You’ll get to ride everything from fast to slow, steep to flowing, technical to fun and in every natural habitat you can think of. This is one hell of a place to ride your bike. And with over 70% of EWS Travel income staying in-country it’s a great way for us to help support the incredible local economies that make these special destinations what they are.”

@tom666: As unbelievable as it may seem, regular people who love mountain biking can afford expensive bikes and expensive trips that allow them to enjoy their hobby.

Make your way down to Rotorua and I'll show you all round for free.

This is a great idea. The entire allure of the EWS right now is that they are racing in different and arguably more exotic mtb locale than WCDH. The one thing reader/subscribers always imagine while watching/reading about EWS coverage is "can i ride that?" the answer, skill-wise, is "most likely not", but now they offer a service where you can travel there and ride. Not sure if they offer these trips during the EWS race so that spectators can watch the race and then ride the same trails after the race, but that would be an ultimate icing on the cake for this type of business. Maybe some sort of meet n greet with riders on top of that.

Boy, this is gnarly! no way I can ride this.
Proceeds to hoist bike with one arm and casually walks down the "gnarly" trail occasionally using the free hand for balance.

 No mention of Freeride Madeira?
  • 2 1
Yeah, thats the only thing you need to know..

Wonder what you get for the £1000 extra you pay over the Freeride Madeira prices.???

@GavinStorie: Id hope a warm welcome .... I visited madeira twice a year for last 3 years the first year I went over I went and spoke about riding later in the week and was met with 2 rude un enthusiastic and un helpful staff members so I walked straight out ..... so maybe EWS travel will be friendly and open to all skill levels and fitness levels.....

I may try Freeride again in September to see if it was just a once off ! I hope But its certainly motivated me to find other companies doing similar.

@wonkylegmtber: I was there in march and can't fault the professionalism or enthusiasm shown to us by all of the freeride Madeira staff.

@GavinStorie: Perhaps ill try again then.

Great initiative to give back to the communities that host EWS races.

Well that is an offer but a bit of Traiforks and/or a local guide can do the same.

Not actually that bad, when you consider includes transportation, guiding, hotel, breakfast & lunch. Think it's pretty fair

People spend more than $300 a day for Disneyworld. That's just what a inclusive vacation for the working middle class costs if you don't want to be stuck on a cruise ship getting sick somewhere....
  • 1 0
@canadianenduro: it is steep. i could probably do that and spend like a 1000 without taking too much out of the experience, and even with my own flights.

having said that, if someone really want to experience the venues and has the cash, then why not?
  • 1 0
Sounds pretty good to me.... (Checks CAD to USD exchange rate) DAMIT!

you pay your money and take your choice my friend...
  • 1 0
@tiagomano: i think the flight costs would be much less for customers who actually live in portugal
  • 1 0
@cuban-b: yes, that's true, but i don't think that the flight is included on the price, was just an example that it is expensive and that with a bit more work you could be there for way less, or be more time for the same
